KRAMER ON SPORTS NUTS

"We have all the bullets to shoot at 1st in the Big Sky." That is what he said (among other things.) He was on for about 1/2 hour and covered everything from our "Great running depth", "Great DB depth", and "The best LB's in the Big Sky." He did say our kicking game is the only true question going into next year.

What did he say about D-Line. That is potentially big weakness. I would hope he would admit it or does he know something we don't?

Saccat said "He did say our kicking game is the only true question going into next year."

He could be very truthfull. The DL may not be a true question. They may know the answer

Just kidding, I truely believe the coaches have brought in an infusion of talent that will help this area significantly. (Just wanted to use the Twisted Evil face)

He said that there is one linemen that will switch over to DL if he can keep his weight down to under 300 pounds, I can't remember the name. But he said that our D-Line lookes good and very fast.

I suppose that would be Saucedo

I don't think it is Saucedo for two reasons, First is he already switched over (listed on the roster as Nose Tackle D and played there all spring) and 2nd, he is already well over 300 (317) and he is just not going to lose any weight looking at him.

Possibly Chris Smith? He as MVP on Defense in High School? Or there is Jensen and Birkland, the two fastest OL, but then you take one of the starters away from the OL.

I think that it IS Saucedo simply because he would be the only one (other than Bolton) that would have to get his weight DOWN to 300. Also, I think the average listener on the radio may not know that Big Lou has already switched over. It is old news to us, but we are not the average Bobcat fans in Bozeman listening on the radio.

I thought SACCAT said the guy would have to keep it down under 300 (implying that he was already there, but needed to keep it under that mark). Also, I don't know if Lou will ever be under 300 again in his life. He is a big guy and not really overly heavy.

Also to Kramer, Lou's move is OLD history, why would he bring that up, It's probably older history to him than to us. As well, they put Lou's move in the Bozeman paper this last spring. So anyone that reads the newspaper (that is a sports guy that would listen to a sports talk show) would already know. But then that doesn't eliminate a lot of people in Bozeman (due to the being able to read criteria).

I guess we will not know unless SACCAT remembers or someone else heard it.

Kramer said:

1. Fuller looks very good, and in the new system we have (more zone) he will be great.

2. Portland State, Eastern Wash, Montana, Northern Arizona, MSU are all teams that will be great.

3. He would play two 1-A teams a year if he could (He thinks this team is good enough that we can hang in there for a while, and the kids Love these games.)

4. Back up QB's are ready to step in if Luley gets hurt.

5. Luley will still punt.

6. We need to pack the place in both Football and Basketball before any renovations are talked about.

7. With northern Colorado coming in that will hurt the amount of home games we have, if we do still play 1-A teams.

8. Amazing how many people around the state are talking about MSU. "Not just on the internet."

On the weight issue. Kramer said that they want him to lose the weight and are helping him to do so. But Kramer does not think it will happen.

I heard the show and Coach K said that with losing Zach Wolfe at the center position - they have toyed with the idea of bringing big Lou back to the OL. He said big Lou is a NFL O-lineman. But by doing that it leaves the DL a little thin, so you could tell that nothing had been decided on this issue. He did say if Lou could not keep his wt down (I think he said he was around 320?) around the 3 bills mark that he may be better of on the OL. We shall see?????

I heard through the grape-vine that Chris Davis is here and is very strong for a cornerback. Also the other WR from WSU is here and working out.

They should make him a 2 way player :) That would help keep his weight down. I would think if we had Matakis healthy we could maybe shift him to OL unless someone else went down. But you also want someone familiar with the DL scheme and has worked with them too. They need to definately make a decision on this before the Fall camp starts so he gets the most benefits of reps from whichever side he will be playing.

Speaking of Andy Matakis - Coach K said that his return date keeps getting moved up and that Oct 1 is the new date he could be ready. His ACL recovery is going very well. Good news for the DL!!

2. Portland State, Eastern Wash, Montana, Northern Arizona, MSU are all teams that will be great.
NAU? They don’t even have a full coaching staff.
3. He would play two 1-A teams a year if he could (He thinks this team is good enough that we can hang in there for a while, and the kids Love these games.)
I doubt the “kids love these games.” When does a player ever like to lose a game? Why don’t we stop playing 1-A teams for ½ of what everyone else gets? Then in we are basically playing two 1-A games a year (in money terms) and we then we can schedule another home game.
6. We need to pack the place in both Football and Basketball before any renovations are talked about.
Kramer was telling everyone across the state that we would have renovations begin on Bobcat Stadium in 2-3 years. The problem is I know that we will not sellout our BB games, so that would put all renovations on hold.

We need more visibility in our BB programs as a whole. In my opinion Durham and Co. (not counting TBB in this as we haven't seen how she will do on this subject yet) have not done enough marketing of the ball team to the public. Both teams are in the offseason right now, but yet have we heard any quotes/info out of the Durham camp this year yet? It's been like there have been crickets chirping? That is the only way you fill up the stands. You need to pump up the product and make people want to attend each and every game. We need more of this on the basketball side of things. I must say I am also disappointed in our bball schedule this year as I think it is a rather weak nonconference schedule overall. If you want to be the best, you have to play the better teams. Maybe it was scheduling difficulties, but our nonconference schedule should be a lot better than that in my opinion. It has been pretty good the previous 2-3 years so maybe it's just scheduling. I'm not harping on the bball program as a whole, I'm just saying we need to really get on the stick and start pumping people up on the basketball as well as the football. GET THOSE FANS PUMPED UP!

Thanks for the updates all. Good news about most everyone (Matakis, Fuller, Davis.....) All defense upsides where the questions are.
You wonder how much of what is put forward like this by Kramer is to pump up the fans and how much is gospel?

I was just going over what he said on the show, and he did say the kids love playing those games. As for NAU, he said they have one of the 10 best QB's in the history of the Big Sky, ( he said that the QB from eastern, and Luley were both on the top ten all time list as well.)

Murietta is a good passer. Probably has the best touch of the current Big Sky QB's, but when he was newcomer of the year as a freshman he also had Clarence Moore. He could probably regain the acclaim with the right receivers...but until he does I don't see him as good as Lulay and Meyer as a leader.

Apparently David Siataga (sp?) was being recruited by six other BSC teams and that he would have gone to a I-A team until they found out something about his eligibility. I think it was that he only had two years to play two years, instead of three years to play two. I guess it came down to EW and MSU in the end. He was very high on him and on the defense.
