Some more info on the new recruit:

Maylene Ornelas (44) and Nubia Garcia talk with each other during basketball practice at Mountain View High School. The two are fast friends.

Nubia Garcia makes a hook pass during a game against Copper Hills. She played ball in Mexico but has had to learn American-style ball.

More:

I really think we got a good one here!

• NUBIA GARCIA, 6-1 senior, Mountain View: Garcia averaged 12.81 points per game offensively for the Bruins, but the girl from Mexico is much more than her point totals. With solid footwork and excellent instincts, Garcia picked up steals and blocks, caused myriad turnovers and forced teams to make bad shooting decisions. She led the Bruins' vaunted defense, though she had to learn English throughout the season. Garcia was an emotional leader for 20-3 Mountain View, and though she came off the bench, she played plenty of minutes in yet another Region 7 championship run.

With Nubia and Jenny Herringer's potential, coupled with a weak returning team, is TBB going to be able to redshirt these two?

Looks like a good catch for TBB. Being a post player and working with Amy Saneholtz she should develop into a very good player.

BTW the bio for Saneholtz on the MSU website is incorrect. She spent 8 years at Cal Poly.

The MSU website has a mistake! I can't believe it! I know this guy named Kevin who is great with websites in that part of the world. The MSU Athletic Dept. should hire him as soon as possible. He would have the site looking great.

I hear he's a little pressed for free time currently though.

This thread announces "another big girl from Utah" Nubia Garcia, but deep rumblings say that the "first big girl from Utah" Lacie Titmus is not coming. Anybody know anything? Isn't it hard to undo a letter of intent?

Yes it's hard to undo a letter of intent. But LOI are signed only, one week in Oct or Nov and a month in May. During the summer players do not sign LOI, just an agreement. So the player is free to go somewhere else. Usually it doesn't happen in WBB but it does happen.

Thanks for the insight into the LOI, Stingrays. The Chronicle did say Lacie just "signed" but said Nubia Garcia "signed an LOI" which mislead me a bit. Indeed, the late signing period ended May 18. Correct information like yours is the reason that Bobcat Nation is becoming THE SOURCE for Bobcat news.

This lends more credence to the Lacie rumblings.
