Once again, EWU is going to be the team to beat. I hope we do not blow it like we did last year.

I agree eastern will be tough but they will need a little d (or big D)to win. I think all this talk of them being an elite team is a little premature. I like to think we have the upper hand in that area as of right now, and the offense is about equal.

I know most of us realize this but, I want to point out even though our offense was very good at the end of the season it has and still will take awhile for the offense to get on that fast pace like last year. Same will probably go for Eastern.

It seems that at the start of the year Bailey tries everything in the playbook that doesn't work before he settles on the wide open offense that travis excels at.

Will Bailey do the same da$ thing. Run up the middle, run up the middle, short pass for a first down. It took Bailey about 6 games to figure out we could not run up the middle. I only hope it does not take this long ever again. Go with what works. Take what is given to you by the defense. Keep running the plays that are sucessfully. ( not all the time) Run plays that match your players strengths.

Good point Peed. (First time in my life I've ever used those words in that order.) Eastern is definitely getting some major hype this year, will be interesting to see if they can live up to it. I remember last year they were getting hyped before the season and started out by getting thumped at Nichols State. Not downplaying them because they definitely do look good on paper, and I think Wulff is a great coach. I'm glad Kramer has a pretty good track record when we travel to Cheney. Hopefully we can sneak out of there with a W.

Neither the Cats or EWU lost too much talent, correct? Neither team had much in the way of D last year. I think Lulay and Meyer are both very good, but Lulay doesn't have an all american WR-Kimble to throw to. EWU won the head to head match last year in Bozeman. EWU went farther in the playoffs, I have to say EWU "is" the elite team in the Big Sky right now. How does the Cats have the upper hand so far?

Gatewood is what gives MSU the edge? Isn't Kimble a 1st Team Offense?

I'd say we definitely have a better GROUP of receivers, with Gatewood leading the way. I also think our D will be better. Just my opinion though... 8)

You said that Lulay doesn't have an All-American receiver to throw to, and I was just letting you know that he does. You had nice things to say about Travis, but he is also on the third team. I would argue that both Rick GREATwood and Lulay are differece makers and give MSU "the edge."

It would be like if I said that Hilliard is a good running back, but he doesn't have any All-American linemen to run behind. I have a feeling that you would be the first person to let me know that Brad Rhoads was on the A-M list.....even though he was third team.
