Did anybody attend the Shrine game this weekend? Wasn't able to go, but heard some good things about Hansen and Gazzero from some Griz fans. If anybody went would like to hear some reports on the Cat recruits and your thoughts. Thanks.

I didn't see the game either, but it sounded from the papers like Joe Shreibeis had a very good game. He had a 50 yard TD pass reception and a total of 78 yards receiving. Also saw where Derek Green caught a couple of passes for 31 yards.

I didn't see Hoffenbacker's name mentioned...did he play?

I heard Hoffenbacker played, but it seemed that he was playing mostly a read and then react type game. Sounds like he is at his best when he can just pin his ears back and go.

The more I hear about Gazzero, the more excited I become about him being a Cat. Question is will he play saftey or linebacker?

Good to hear that Green and Shreibeis played well.

I know this is putting a lot of expectations on Chase, but when you think Gazzero, think Kane Ioane.

Cat Pride,

I was thinking the same thing a couple of months ago about Chase. Kane Ioane with speed. Lets just hope he has the football intelligence of Kane. If he does, watch out BSC!

Gazzerro played safety during the Shrine game. He looked very good except when he didn't react quickly enough on a touchdown pass to Ty Palmer of Big Sky. He was also the deep man on kickoffs and punts and they kicked away from him all night. Hansen did a nice job on the O-line. Hoffenbacker had a few tackles, but the East tended to run to the outside.

I talked to Gazzerro's father during the high school season and he said the Cats would like Chase to play LB and get up to around 210 or so. I don't know if there has been a change or not. He was listed in the Shrine program at 185.

Sounds a lot like Mac Mollohan. When Mac graduated, he was around 185 & I pictured him replacing Kane someday. He's never been able to get over 210 lbs. but I think he's done pretty well at LB anyway...

Just a question, but does anyone know how Dane Fletcher looked? I guess a better question, is he still planning on playing football for the cats this next year. I thought he had signed but could be out of the loop and he did win the west defensive MVP, so thought i should ask.

gazzo is at about 200 and they plan on playing him at LB. i think they maybe plan on him playing this year on special teams...ala what mac did as a freshman.

as for fletcher he did sign and i think he may also be a special teams player this year.
