First of all, how sweet is that list of high school players and the respective colleges they are going to. Nice work washprep =D^ =D^ =D^ =D^

Back to Connor, my guess is he is one of those late recruits that Kramer is infamous for. These kids typically end up making significant contributions in their time at MSU. A few big names who were late signees in recent years who will make contributions this year:

Mike Brown
Sweet Lou Saucedo
Wes Mauria
Dan Ashley

He must be decent. He's 6-2, 225 and was named King Co. - 3A Lineman of the Year. Played for Bellevue, which has won last three 3-A state titles.

Here's what I like about this recruit. Anyone coming out of Bellevue High School has had great coaching. BHS players have an unbelieveable work ethic. A year ago after they won the state championship on Saturday night they had 40 plus players back in the weight room the following monday. Among other things they wanted to immediately start getting ready for the season opener in Seahawk Stadium against De Lasales (sp?) from California who had something like a 130 game winning streak at the time. Bellevue beat the crap out of them. AND BHS players come from a consistantly winning program and will not accept defeat! If we have an all-league lineman off that team chances are we have something good.

Cool article about exactly what raincat was referring to here: http://seattletimes.nwsource.com/html/h ... son23.html

Sounds like this kid and all of his linemates were very dedicated and very good.

Also found a couple more articles that list Mawhinney as coming to MSU so I would say this is true.

The real question is why did the kid sign to late? Were there problems with his grades? Was he passed over by other schools? There has to be an underlining factor why he didn’t sign in February.

I especially like this quote:

"Bellevue's linemen saw the same things on tape. They saw how the Spartans moved in unison. How they pushed larger opponents all over the field using leverage, angles and speed. How they controlled the tempo of the game and led drive after drive to the end zone. "

That sounds totally like the kind of guys Kramer likes on his team (especially DL - Montoya/Corderio etc. etc.). I wonder if Mawhinney is coming in as an OL or if they are going to make him switch to DE/DT?

Thanks for the link Kmax!!

Who knows why he wasn't signed in Feb. All I know is that it looks like he is coming here :D Sounds like a good kid who should do well at MSU!! I stumbled on the link I posted while checking out egriz. I was surprised when I saw his name and just figured somebody here would know something or be able to find out more about him. Thanks all.

Looks like a player! Hope his grades, etc. are OK. Must be or I don't think he'd be headed this way. Should help recruiting in the Bellevue area- looks like they know how to coach.
