2005 Gato Poll #1
Time to "stick your necks out", Cat fans (and Cat haters).
Pick the record you feel the Bobcats will most likely achieve this season, and then elaborate as the spirit moves you...
Personally, I'm picking us to go 2-2 in our OOC shedule and 6-1 in the Big Sky, which will hopefully give us the outright title but will at least share it.
If I had to "fudge" one direction or the other, I'd say 9-2 with a 3-1 OOC record. I really don't expect ANY team to run the table in the Big Sky this year.

I picked 9-2 simply because I agree with Gato that it will be hard to run the Sky. But, if I had to fudge one way or another I would optimistically pick 10-1... Not saying we're gonna beat OK State, but I think we could put togeather a late season power suge and, infact, run the conference.
P.S. Gato, check your PM's fool!

I think the Cats will go 8-3. OSU is an obvious loss. I think you are due to finally beat Poly. The Cats saw what happened when we overlooked NDSU, so that won't happen. Maybe there is a chance you will stumble with NAU by looking past to redemption with Sac., but I'll give you the benefit of the doubt since it's at home. Sac. will get crushed. EWU at EWU, I give EWU the nod. That will be a big let down and then the Cats will finish with a loss to the Griz to finish the season at 8-3, which would be actually be a hell of a season because that's 8 straight wins until the last two weeks. With that record EWU, MSU, and the Griz all get into the post season.

I have the cats at 6-5 (although 7-4 is realistic)...2-2 out of conference, that is a brutal schedule to start. Big loss at OSU, challenges against Stephen Austin and Cal Poly, and a big win vs NDSU...Conference schedule reminds me of the Griz in 2001, early success but then closing out AT EWU and then home vs Griz. A loss at EWU can take the wind out of your sales and a let down vs UM...Until the cats prove otherwise, they haven't shown the ability to win the big games down the stretch...Cudos to them if they rally to get to 8-3 and host a playoff game, they can do it with their talent level, they simply haven't done it in the past 20 years. I'm a prove it first kind of guy...

What about 2002 and 2003?Bozgriz wrote:Until the cats prove otherwise, they haven't shown the ability to win the big games down the stretch...
Anyway, I voted for 7-4...I'll predict 2-2 for the non-conference schedule and 5-2 for conference.

I dabbled between 7-4 and 8-3, but I picked 8-3 because I think 3-1 going into conference is very possible. I see us losing 2 conference games, but there is a possibility we may only lose one.
I just "hope" that we don't start slow like we do every season, and if we don't, I think 3-1 is very realistic.

The GRIZ, a quarter century of total football dominance over the cats.

I think any combination of EWU/UM, in my opinion we will lose one of those, maybe both.
I am also concerned about NAU, they are going to be a little mad after last year. PSU also has the potential to be disaster.
I don't know which two, hopefully less than two, but I see any of those 4 teams being able to beat us.

10-1 with one close game in Cheney.
With 16 starters and plenty on the bench watching the debacle of the last three games of '04; Lulay, Bolton, and Mollahan will not let what happen last November happen this year. We will finish strong. Even though our defense gave up a lot of points, our offense continued to roll without a consistent running attack. Our defense will show huge improvements because of the experience, Coach K(best DC in the league), and our new additions. We have obviously retooled our running attack. The offensive line from the record-setting offense is back. We have fixed everything that went wrong last November plus we have incredible depth at many postions.
Our consistent slow start has been do to our inexperience going into the season. A lot of new and young guys on the O-line last year. Lulay with new receivers. New RBs (Dominick, Morris). We started last year on Offense with a lot of potential. The O showed SOME good things about conference time last year followed by its coming out party during the NAU game. From the beginning of last season, I always felt we had the talent to do what we did in NAU. Sac, EWU, and the grit did not stop Lulay even though we lost.
There will be know slow start this year. Our offense is loaded with seasoned veterans. In my humble opinion, I don't think we have ever gone into a season with so much.
I love our schedule. For a typical Bobcat FB team going into a season, I would be thinking at best 2-2 and most likely 1-3 with this OOC finishing the season 7-4. I'm here to tell you this team is far from a typical Bobcat FB team. We will be 3-1 going into conference play and we will runover the Big Sky. Eastern will be the closest anyone gets to us. We beat them by 2 touchdowns.
Most of these posts I have been reading are saying we are going to do the same thing this November as last year. Anyone who posts on this board who has ever been an athlete and might have went through what this team went through last November should realize a second chance to redeem yourself is very rare. Our team was very youthful then. They had the conference by the balls before the Sac game. Do you honestly think they would let it happen again? '02 and the '03 team had good Novembers. I expect perfection come this Nov.
We will roll. There is not a team in I-AA that can stop this offense.

I voted 9-2 with my heart, 8-3 is more reality.
I dont see the Cats losing a home game this year, that would put the record instantly at 6-0.
Road games @ OSU and @ EWU make the team 6-2. Road games @ Cal Poly and @ WSU make the team 8-2. PSU is the one that will really define whether the Cats are hosting a playoff game in November or traveling to one. So if the Cats beat PSU, they are 9-2 and hosting a playoff game. If they lose to PSU, they are 8-3 and still making the playoffs.

With this scenario, you are saying we will have an eight game(including a PSU win) win streak going into Cheney. If thats the case, I like are chances at EWU. Can you say momentum?Cat Pride wrote:I voted 9-2 with my heart, 8-3 is more reality.
