Nothing too interesting except that Don Bailey is now the head coach.

Also, it sounds like they are expected a near capacity of 47,000ish. Can't wait.

WOW! How in the world did the Chronicle miss THAT ONE???

(Sorry, I couldn't resist!)

And doesn't the "alum" designation signify receiving a degree? If so, I wasn't aware that Killer got his; I know he transferred out, did he come back and finish at MSU?

No kidding, Gato I am starting to see the light with you on Welsch. How in the world did he get scooped on this by an out of state opponent?!?!

We got any volunteers to go tell Kramer he has been ousted?

STILLWATER, Okla. -- Incumbent Donovan Woods will start at quarterback when Oklahoma State opens its season Saturday against Montana State, but redshirt freshman Bobby Reid will also play in the game, Cowboys coach Mike Gundy said Monday.

As a freshman, Woods led the Cowboys to a 7-5 record and an appearance in the Alamo Bowl last season. He completed 97 of 187 passes for 1,628 yards with 13 touchdowns and only five interceptions.

"We feel like he deserves to start the game with what he's done up to this point, and the other guy deserves to play in the game," Gundy said.

Reid was prepared to start for the Cowboys last season before a shoulder injury caused him to miss the season. He redshirted and returned to compete with Woods in spring practice.

Gundy said he hesitated to name a starter because the quarterbacks were so even that they could have switched spots with one solid performance in a 7-on-7 drill in practice.

"They were so close. I wasn't even going to do it until the game," Gundy said. "The offensive staff was tired of messing with it. They wanted to go ahead and name a starter, so that's fine."

Woods said he hadn't been informed him that he would start.

"Coach hasn't told me anything," Woods said. "I've just got to play it out."

He said the decision was in coaches' hands and he wasn't going to worry about it.

"I can't do anything else but play ball," Woods said.

Reid hasn't played in a game since his senior year at North Shore High School in Houston and is just looking forward to being in a college game.

"To me, it'll be a dream come true," Reid said. "It's been a while. I would have played last year, but my shoulder injury kind of stopped that. Whenever I get the call, I'm going to just go in and do what I know how to do."

Primarily an option quarterback, Reid threw for 22 touchdowns and ran for 16 more as he led North Shore to the 5A state title.

Gundy said offensive coordinator Larry Fedora made the quarterback decision. Gundy didn't provide any details on why Woods was picked. He said there were still questions about both quarterbacks -- how Woods would perform in Oklahoma State's new spread, no-huddle offense and how Reid would play in any college game.

"I have a pretty good idea of what Donovan's going to do because I know him," Gundy said. "I don't have any idea what Bobby's going to do."

Gundy, a former Oklahoma State quarterback, said coaches were careful about how they handled the competition.

"The one thing that we didn't want -- and we made it very clear to both quarterbacks -- is that we didn't want them to play scared," Gundy said.

"We knew they were going to make mistakes. We knew they were going to make big plays. We didn't want them to think if they did something wrong they weren't going to get back in forever."
