I'm sure others that have ordered got it as well, but for those that haven't and are wondering how long it would take to ship, I recieved my shipment notice this morning so they apparently have them in hand and are sending them out. I'm hoping they are shipping them from Bozeman which would mean I will have it tomorrow.

I ordered a copy yesterday morning early on line, and it came today from Bozeman by Priority Mail. So I assume they are in the way to anyone else who has ordered them.

Hey Everyone,

We got our copy of the Line yesterday in the mail and since we didn't have much going on this holiday weekend, we watched both DVDs last night and this morning. When you get through all the episodes it will leave you craving football season! Great work by Right Angle. I hope they do it again this year that would be awesome to have each season so well documented.

I received my copy of "The Line" this weekend, and ended up watching the entire thing in one sitting (I was hooked). It was truly a great series, not only from the perspective of a Bobcat fan (although that was a definite plus), but in the way it showed the behind the scenes workings of a top flight 1-AA football program. I think even non-Bobcat fans would enjoy most of the program, with the exception of some of the game results.

You can't help but enjoy Kramer thoughout the series, and it was really interesting to get the perspective and background on all of the players. Having seen this, it reminds me again how sad it is when people who are fans of any team feel the need to rip on players of any other team. I think if more people opened themselves up to these kinds of stories of all of the players and families involved, it would be really hard for people to take such joy in tearing down teams and ripping players. When put in the right perspective, all of that kind of stuff looks so stupid.

I loved the series as a sports fan, a person, and as a Bobcat fan. I would encourage everyone to give it a look.

On a side note, the series really reminded me exactly how nice the facilities are at MSU. Between the stadium, the fieldhouse and the weight room facilities, the program has a lot going for it. We still have a lot of improvements we could make, but we certainly have nothing to be ashamed of. Those are some really nice facilities.

I was so excited to have received it Thursday. Started watching right away with my two boys. My older one now is asking how he can become a Bobcat football player. I really hope they do another sort of "reality show" again this year. It truly is a documentary on these young men, and what drives each of them. Besides the NAU game and of course the Cat/Friz game, the real side of the players came out when Jay Hackett is trying to get the team together at the Cal/Poly game. I can only imagine what these guys went through with the whole OB thing. For as many in-state jerks that said many crude things, the team really overcame the adversity, and proved all of them wrong. I can't wait til football starts, and see what plays out this year. Great Job!

Some of the most interesting segments that I pulled from my first viewing (apologies for the stream of conciousness writing):

1. The discussion of the RB situation in Spring Ball. It just showed how much things can change in the course of a season.

2. The interviews with Mayfield. He seemed like a really interesting guy on camera – I’m now sorry he’s no longer with the team.

3. The reaction to the OB situation – brutal stuff for the team.

4. The post-suspension interviews from OB regarding his future. Was that the “denial” stage of grief? Very sad situation for everybody, but certainly nobody’s fault other than his own.

5. All of the beautiful shots of the landscape around Bozeman, including lots of cool early morning and dusk shots of the stadium and practice fields. It really is beautiful, especially when you don’t get to see it very often.

6. Remembering how many games were lost that “should have been” won. Considering how poorly the season started out, the finish last year was amazing.

7. Every time Kramer spoke, I liked him a little bit more. Although I did catch a couple times where he used long words that didn’t really mean what he meant them to mean in a sentence. We all do that every so often, so I thought was kind of funny. He didn’t do it enough to be President, so we don’t need to worry about losing him to politics quite yet.

8. I was very impressed by the level of attention the coaching staff paid to the academic performance of the athletes. A cynic could say that things would be different if the camera wasn’t there, but I was quite sold on the staff’s dedication on this issue. Very good stuff.

9. Lowe’s comments about Montana and how there was little to do there. An interesting perspective from a guy from a vastly different background. He wasn’t complaining – just calling it like he saw it.

10. Interesting collage of comments from campus students before the Homecoming game about their plans for that Saturday, and how many mentioned that they weren’t going to the game. A good reminder how “diverse” the campus itself really is in terms of interests.

11. Joey Thomas’ comment about how much people in Montana drink and how drunk people do stupid things – very funny mainly because I can relate to it so well, and so can most of us. To us, it was normal, but the opinion of someone from someplace else really strikes a chord.

12. Joey Thomas – cocky/confident interviews. We will miss him. He had to be a lot of fun for the rest of the team to play with.

13. The interviews relating to “going pro.” Very interesting both in terms of seeing the dreams of the players as well as tempering them with the reality of the odds of success.

14. Montoya interviews – very interesting. A very down to earth guy who seemed to have it all together and had his priorities in great shape. This, coming from a guy (me) who thinks nobody should be married before they are 30. The guy made a bit of a believer out of me.

15. The interview with Mr. and Mrs. Elliot from Fort Benton – they were funny and so down to earth. I guess they just seemed really… familiar, kind of like all sorts of Montana farmer families that I know. The discussions with all of the parents at different points in the series was really cool.

16. The build-up to the improbable conference championship was incredible. Even someone not familiar with the program would have to get chills from all of the pieces falling together for the team towards the end.

17. Cat/Griz. Yeah, that was pretty cool.

18. There are a lot of additional moments that I didn’t include, but these topped the list. In short, I feel very, very fortunate to have had a chance to watch the series, and I hope more of its kind are made, regardless of the team. I feel as though I actually know last year’s seniors now, even though I never met any of them (edit: I did meet Nate Cook, so that sentence wasn't completely accurate).

This series has to be a great recruiting tool as well. If any high school kid watched this series, they wouldn’t be able to help but bleed blue and gold from that point on.

Now I’m hoping the coming season has all of the high points of last season, but far fewer of the low points. That would be something really special – even more so than last season.

my favorite quote came from Jason Goodman (who, according to jager, wasn't one of the top 10 players to come out of Montana last year) who said something to the tune of...."I hate the grizzlies, my whole family hates the grizzlies."

Woo-Hoo... just got mine today, U.S. priority mail. Wish my work computer still had a DVD player in it and I'd probably just take a "break" forthe rest of the day. Oh well, just have to watch it tonight. Looks like Scott Mansch on the back cover of the case? Good for him. Figures that it's Scott and not whoever does the Comical...

Also, how about the entire team singing "LUUUULAAAAY, LULAY, LULAY, LULAY" after the NAU game? That gave me chills.

It's too bad we can't send the DVD to prospective recruits! I even asked Pete Fields about that...I gues it's a No No!

If the recruites came to MSU for their visits though, why couldn't they show them some highlights of that video? Its harmless, shows what nice program we have/our coaches/facilities/game type atmosphere/fans/tailgating (I could go on and on here :)

Bay Area Cat: I pretty much felt the same you did. The one thing that really impressed about Kramer and staff, is his insistance of academics. I believe that is the difference between MSU and UM. MSU has always stressed it more, as I remember from a few years back, the Billings Gazette ran the number of graduating athletes are much more likely for those that attend MSU than UM. LIke Kramer said, less than 1% of college athletes go pro, they are more likely to be professional doctors, lawyers, etc. The Lulay chant after the NAU game. Incredible! It will be really exciting to see what happens when the season starts. I actually called to check how many cat/friz tickets i can pre-purchase per our booster membership. As they say, membership has its privledges.

According to Kramer this spring, he for the first time since he has been at MSU, did have anyone prepare a Bobcat season 2003 football highlight video. He figured no matter how good it was it still could not compare to "the Line" DVD. At that point he fully expected to use "The Line DVD" instead.

So are they or aren't they going to produce something similiar for this next year's season?

I would assume for the 2004 season they would once again produce the highlight video, unless "the Line" decided to profile MSU again.
