PA Announcer - game 2 improvements from game 1

What are your thoughts on the new announcer after his second game? I thought he was a little better than game 1 but there were still a few things I didn't like:

1. Fuller's first name is Andre, please write that down.

2. The First Down style is still wrong. It should be said as if leading up to the crowds response of BOBCATS!!!!!!!!

3. Too much information right before a big play, i.e. "9:42 left in the 3rd quarter with a 3rd and 7 from the 41.....". Especially since he was finishing at the snap.

4. Not really all his issue but there were a number of times he gave completely wrong information such as the the name of the carrier, tackled by, spot, etc. He and the spotters need to get on the same page.

What does everyone else think?

2. I can't stand his style on "First Down" call. Sounds way too forced. I really don't care if he copies the Griz guy; YOU'VE JUST GOT TO BELT IT OUT. Don't try to "build it up".

3. I THINK he's trying to fire up the crowd with this but I agree there should be a better, more creative way to do that.

Personally I see the fiiiiiirrrrrst doowwwn BOBCATS!! as a way to get under the skin of the opponent. In the first half I'm sure they get a little grin and think things like "enjoy that one 'cause you aren't going to get many today". But, by the second half, I see it beginning to beat them down a little more everytime we say it.

I like it and say stay with it.

I think I can speak for El Gato here as well but I didn't mean I don't like it - I just don't like the way he says it. The style is all wrong.

MIKE McLeod not Mark. And Dominek is not Bass and vice versa.

Was a little better that the first week. The damn music is what gets me.

i am sorry but i am far from impressed, not to be mean but get the names and how you pronounce them right.

then, does he have a spotter? he gave credit a few times to people who were on the sideline. i recall one time for sure he said big lou was on the tackle...big lou was on the sideline..how the hell do you miss him?

The music was MUCH better than the first week. They didn't play the same 5 somgs over and over again. They had more of a variety.

gfallscat & Gato,
I understand what you're saying now. Also, I completelyl remember that play. I looked at my buddy and said something like Lou just got credit for a tackle and he's not even in.

I still don't like the music being played as our offense is coming to the line.

I think they change the stats on the scoreboard too soon...should wait for the 'down' markers on the field to be moved.

Actually we would be copying the Washington State guy.

The music folks need to drastically limit their play when we have the football. There were numerous times when music was playing while Travis was trying to communicate with the offense. They shouldn't have to be told that's a no-no, but it appears they do.

MUSIC COORDINATOR: DON'T PLAY MUSIC WHEN WE HAVE THE BALL UNLESS IT'S A TIMEOUT OR THEY'RE MOVING THE CHAINS OR SOME OTHER "BREAK IN THE ACTION".

I was in the endzone and to tell the truth I couldn't hear the MSU band to far away.

Who is the announcer? He sounded like Mike Long from Billings...originally from Miles City. His constant repeating of 3RD DOWN gave it away. He said that way too much when he was the announcer at the Billing Outlaws games.

I guess I didn't really notice the music-maybe I was too busy freezing my butt off (I'm a real wuss when it comes to cold weather).

I think the PA announcer might have some potential-he almost sounded a tad nervous at times-that should clear up after a few games under his belt. He also needs to learn the personnel a lot better-especially the freakin' home team.

I kind of like his third down call-but as mentioned before, he needs to get through it before the ball is snapped.

And how about some scores from other games? And yes I would like to hear how the griz are doing-even if they're winning (I realize they weren't playing last week).

The crowd was getting into the first down chant. I thought the crowd was great. The announcer was trying to start the first down thing way to low in his vocal range, could not hear the first part, which became annoying. If the announcer uses his range properly with more inflection and enthusiasm, it will be much more effective, and not annoying.
