Kramer has finally put together a team with some depth thanks to three very good recruiting classes in a row. He will have to count on several JC players which has been a problem in the past. Of the 37 JC players brought in the last four years (not counting this year) only one has become a starter. Apparently the "new" JC's are much better players. We will see. The team is strong this year. The only weak spot may be the O-Line. Two of the starters have never played a college game and one has only played special teams. Two are very lite (250lbs). The loss of Swaggert and Mataio will really hurt. There is no one on the roster to take their place. Hirst is out for the season and he was steady last year. The secondary will be much more athletic than in the past but not as football savy and will have some growing pains. The front seven will make up for any secondary deficiencies. Of the 2003 graduates five are still in NFL camps (some will get cut this fall) and one is waiting to get an NFL shot. Two more will play CFL or Arena ball. Thats eight pro players out of one class. That will be hard to replace.

My biggest concern is the O-Line. There was talk (from Kramer) of bringing in a 1-a non-scholarship O-Line drop down, in addition to a couple of other players. Has anyone heard anything on this?

8 guys in the pros. I think you guys underachieved badly last year with only 7 wins. or was it bad coaching?

A Offensive Tackle fro U of Houston was penciled in but he failed to make grades. There is a Pac-10 O-lineman who may transfer. He is not a starter now but a good player with more experience than what we have now.
