All I can say is that this is all of one person's prognosis. I think the position the Cats are at right now is just fine. Its better than being where the Griz are, because if the Grizzle's don't peform to standard everyone has them sitting at, it will be a terribly long season for Hauck and staff, let alone the fans, who we all know will be as onry as hell. As it was stated in several earlier posts, let's see what happens when they hit the field.

i think both prognosis are pretty accurate. the griz have questions at o-line, linebackers, kicker, and db's. the cats have questions at o-line,kicker,running back, and db's.

Pretty confident you can cross out the running back off this list. The Cats will be VERY deep at RB this year. The other 3 are legit though.

I'm actually kind of glad we don't have a proven kicker....
4th and 2 from the opponents 30 yard line....GO FOR IT BABY!! I've always felt coaches settle for 3 points too often. If it's 4th and long within the 30, Ok, kick the SOB. :x

CTOWM, I'm with ya on that one and I'm also glad Snyder is gone. He saved your butts 3 years ago, the last time the Cat/Griz game was in Bozeman. He kicked something like a 45 yarder to help them win by 2 as the last play of the game. Its tough to hold a lead with someone like that so I'm glad we probably won't have to worry about that this year.

Both the Griz and Cats have the same scenerio. Questions on the O-Line after losing three of the best each had and a young secondary. For the Cats the secondary will make mistakes but as good as the four graduates were, this group is much more athletic. The Cat offense has been the problem the past few years ( defense always number one) but Kramer has finally solved that one with quality depth at RB and WR. I don't know much about the back-up QB's though. We know what will happen to the Griz if Och's goes down. The Cats have two red shirt freshmen. Who knows much about them until they play.

The biggest concern will be the league parity. On paper, EW and NAU are the best teams. Montana has the favorable schedule with four home league games including NAU and MSU. Even Sac State seems to get better every year.

NAU returns 3 starters on offense, and 6 on defense. Murietta is solid, but he has no one to throw to, and no one to protect him. I'm not sure how this team is good on paper.
The question for EWU is rather a defense will show up. It hasn't for the last couple of years. 9 returning starters on a bad defense does not eqaul quality defense.

I hope your right about NAU and EW. I know the coaches are nervous about those two teams. NAU has an abundance of young real good players. With Arizona and Arizona State being down and having coaching uncertainty the last few years, NAU has stollen a few good players from them.

Murietta will have at least one guy to throw to, Daryl Lightfoot.

I heard that Lightfoot will not play due to academic reasons. Anyone else hear this?

Guess it doesn't look good for Lightfoot.
