OK, I was just in a doctors waiting room and read an olllllllld Sporting news Mag. In it , it had an artical that scientifically broke down how to determine who will a conference title. After reviewing ten years of D-1 football conferences the author claims that the overwhelming key to success does not rely on having a running or passing game. It is not always defence that wins but it is the team with the top 1 or 2 offencive line wins 90% of the time the second most critical position is an experianced quality quarterback. The author does point out though that even with a maginal to poor quarterback but an out standing offencive line that your chances of winning go up substantially. It is the offencive line baby!!!!

So given this guys theroy (it makes sence but I do not know if I would bet the house on it) who would you football heads feel has the best chance of winning the Big Sky? Who has the best O-line or O-line / Quarterback combo?

Who does have the Best BSC O Line? Not NAU since they lost 4 starters, Griz talented but young lost 3 starters but no freshman starters. What is the scoop on EWU, Weber, ISU? Cats looked good on Dec 1st but have lost some talent since then, young also.

If thats the case, there should be 5-6 teams competing very closely for the title this year. I wonder if it makes any difference on experienced QB's who can also run and also PUNT WELL?

The Grizzlies have a bright future given those statistics. We had one of the better OL recruiting classes I've seen, including insiders.com 131 rated o-lineman, Cody Balogh.
And on paper Berquist looks like a heck of a QB, 80th ranked QB on insiders.com with over 60% completions in H.S.

I must admit though, I have not idea who will have the best O-line in the BSC this season...hopefully da'Griz. Anyone have an arguement as to who they think will have the best o-line in the Sky.

As a note, swami on anygivensaturday picks Cory Procter of UM as a 3rd team preseason all-american and Jeff Bolton of MSU as a 4th team preseason all-american.
As honorable mention picks he's got Steve Burch of ISU, Michael Roos of EWU, and Jeff Christiansen of EWU.
