Pleeeaaase, somebody throw us a bone here. Today was the first full-contact day? How does everyone look, especially would like to hear about Matakis and if he lives up to all the hype surrounding him?

practice report 8/19/04 - I will try not to sugar coat this message - but I don't feel right calling any one player out for what I perceive as bad play, after all what do I really know about football talent. Some one asked about Andy M. - he is big and strong and will play a lot like Jon Montoya did. I watched the OL and DL go at it in pass blocking drills. All I can say is Clive Lowe is a freak! Good luck to the rest of the league blocking him. He is so fast and athletic. And Chad G. is right behind him - not as athletic, but stronger. Along with Bo and Ray this is a very scary group. On the OL - our interior guys (Wolf, Birkland, Figeroa, Bolton) are very solid - Birkland brings a DL mentality to the OL and Bolton is just dominating. He stoned Ray S. in one drill and Ray is first team all league. Good news on the tackle spot - Jensen is up to 282 lbs. and looks good. The other tackle is being manned by Dusty D. All I can say is Dusty will give it all he has, I just hope his shoulder can hold up. I hear Joe H. is planning on a late OCT. come back. He is lifting - squats - and rehab is going well. Of the young OL - Chris Smith is going to be very good. He is built like Bolton. I will bet he plays this year.
My observation of the RB's - its between Dominick and Gathing. Dominick needs to get in better shape, but he got to the corner very fast a couple of times that I saw.

PS: and OH by the way the two drop down DB's - its real, they will be here next week. Both are corners, one is 6-0' - 195lbs and a JR. and the other is 5-10, 170lbs and a Soph.

Ok, Didn't mean to start a lynch mob yesterday. Thanks otherwhite meat for settling the guys down. If you get warm Olympia from Cat I'll be getting a warm piss beer? GD no way am I showing up for a fight with a greaser with tatoos (your words). BAC and wildrat my assistant wrote a couple of post yesterday with my log on, and he still thinks you guys suc% :D

Practice

Nice day, a little cold, skipped Sushi had Bar B Q and it was great.

start with the good. I don't know names or numbers or have the energy to know the cats that well.

I don't think you will have a problem with the O-line looked good and did a good job with the D's front seven which is saying something becouse cat front men are good. (above post mentioned some men among men and I will agree)

RB. Looked ok running but got yelled at more than the rest of the team combined. Practice, should, could help this becouse you all know Kramer will not play a RB that misses blocks.

WR. They got open but seemed not to make many catches. Can't blame the QBs becouse they look good. That kid playing #1 red head can't remember his name. :D

DB....You need DBs in a bad way. This is the cats problem and good thing cats aren't playing a good team the first week.

I will confirm you had kickers.

Hope I didn't offend anybody yesterday. I have to admitt I laughed on how I got tee'd off on by you guys yesterday.

Cattheotherwhitemeat.. sorry I'll miss you at the Cal poly game..I'm going to the SDSU game. (Wife is in Msla that week for a class)

I saw Bozgriz as I passed the stadium. He was sawing away one of the supports on the North(south?) end zone. He's sawing away one support a day until the da$$ thing comes down and forces state to put new end zone seating. He is under direct orders from Bronco, "Tear, Saw, Burn what ever it takes to take down those crappy end zone seats." :D

Peace, save your batteries

Jagur, did you sing "Up with Montana" on the sidelines? pee on the 50 yard line?

How's their punter look? He's going to be the most important part of their team.

The Punter is awesome ... some red headed kid. Probably will again lead the conference in punts inside 20 this year :) Did anyone ever see a return man return one of his bouncing/rolling style punts? I bet the return average against his punting was 5 yards or less last year.

The amazing thing is that we still haven't ran a fake punt/ pass play out of that formation, yet, or have had a punt blocked. It really is kind of a quirky aspect to our team... Quarterback scampers outside and poohs this dead quacker down the sideline about 30 yards in the air that ends up just rolling and rolling and rolling for another 15 - 20 yards just to be downed at the 13 yard line... laugh all you want but it works!

We did run a couple fakes off that last year. A few to Joey Thomas (in playoff game I do believe) and he caught one of the 2 I think. We ran another one as well to another receiver I think to. I like running the fake once in a while if our defense is playing well and we don't give them super killer field position ... it keeps them honest and they don't get as good of return if any trying to defend for the fake. I agree, it is fun to watch Lulay punt the ball and watch it roll/bounce/roll and then die inside the 20 with no return. YOUR DARN RIGHT IT WORKS! :) AWESOME.

Fake punt: Cats will run against Adams state.

One thing I have noticed Kramer or OC always run the crazy stuff against teams they will beat by 30 points anyway. Cats will not go out on the limb against NAU, EWU, Griz ect. I wonder why.

You fool! I was trying to forget about that game and now the memories are flooding back in!

You're right, tho, I forgot about those couple to Joey...

I WANT REVENGE AT THE UNI-DOME!!! Although homefield payback would be fine, too.

I would love to get that dome team to come to Bozeman for an early December visit. We will show them how football is meant to be played. Outside in the elements and on natural grass (ahhh the smell of freshly cut grass .. can't beat it).

Actually we ran a fake punt (successfully) against Washington State a few years back, from the 10 or something like that. And unfortunately, there haven't been that many games lately where we're guaranteed to win by 30...

Hehe... you're right there. If I recall Kramer pulled out all his fake kicks and punts last year against powerhouse St. Mary's.

One of those in the St. Mary's game was to Kane, who came a couple yards from scoring a TD. Another was to Joey that game. We didn't run it more than once the rest of the entire season.

The only guy who did anything with a Lulay punt last year was Segars in the Cat/griz game, he had a couple semi-nice returns. He is pretty good at kick returns, but I have never seen a punk talk so much who does so little (as a receiver). He just never shuts up.

I have to give it to Joe Glenn in this topic. He made one of the ballsiest fake punt calls I have ever seen in Missoula 2 years ago. The griz were down at their own ~15 yard line, and he ran a fake. Worked pretty well, too. They had something like 4th and 14, too, it wasn't some easy little play. Blew me away when he called that. Of course, we still won the game... :D
