You know, for a state its size, Montana has an incredible number of in-state college football games on the air. Virtually all of UM and MSU's football games are going to be on TV this season (if not literally all of them). That's amazing.

By comparison, I don't think all (or even all that many) of Stanford and Cal's games are broadcast. I don't think any SJSU games are on the air. If they are, they aren't easy to find.

BOZEMAN, Mont. -- Omega TV Productions will televise seven
Montana State football games this fall, MSU Athletic Director Peter
Fields and Omega's Steve Dee announced on Wednesday.
Omega's package of Bobcat games, distributed statewide on
Bresnan Cable, includes four Big Sky Conference games -- the Portland
State (Oct. 16) and Eastern Washington (Nov. 13) games at home, and
MSU's trips to Northern Arizona (Oct. 30) Sacramento State (Nov. 6). In
addition, Omega's package includes MSU's season-opener against Adams
State on Sept. 11 and the game against nationally-ranked Cal Poly on
Sept. 18.
"Omega has been very active for several years in televising
Bobcat football games, and I'm glad that Steve Dee has chosen to
continue that tradition this year," Fields said. "Omega is bringing the
Bobcats to football fans throughout Montana."
Omega is also planning to distribute MSU's games Oct. 2 at Idaho
State and Oct. 9 against Weber State, originated by Altitude Sports of
Denver, throughout Montana.

Wow, that's 9 of 11 that will be on TV... could be all of 'em if someone picks up the CSU and/or SDSU games. First the Chronicle seems to be finally be getting a clue with their MSU coverage and now this?

And for those of you who live in Billings and don't have cable, I do know that the Grandstand Casino/Bar gets the OMEGA channel. I watched all of their out of town games on OMEGA there this past year. I wonder if Fox Sports is doing the SDSU one maybe.

Great news. I hope Omega has improved their consistency. A couple times last year they were way late starting the games. Also, I hope they have new sponsors this year. I got extremely sick of hearing that Chef-Boy-R-Dee song last year!!!

I just got word that NBC 16 KTGF in Great Falls will be broadcasting the Colorado State game Sept. 25th and the Homecoming game Oct. 9th against Weber St. It will be nice not to have to hunt for the Omega channel to watch the CATS.

On another note The Football Network is still negotiating with Omega to carry 3-5 of the cat games on satelite. They will be on one of the Fox sports channels, just like last year.

I'm not sure where you watched Omega last year? Here in missoula every time we tried to watch a kitten game or the state HS game of Billings vs Billings, the audio was attrocious. It fade completely out after every commercial or blared a high pitched howl. It probably work in conjunction with the video less than 30% of any game.

I watched them on my TV. That's why I said "I hope Omega improves their consistency" The coverage pretty much sucked for most games last year.

That's some great news!

Say what you want about Omega-I think it's one of the best things to happen to sports in general in Montana. Sure there are a few bugs they need to work out, but this state is very lucky to have them.

In fact I think the media in general is vastly improved over the years concerning MSU Athletics.

I remember not so long ago (maybe 10 years) it was inconsistent just getting a Bobcat game on the radio 10 miles outside of Bozeman after sunset! If the game kicked off before sundown 1090 KBOZ carried the game, but they were a sunset station-meaning they cut their power significantly after sunset. Somebody finally got smart and put the games on FM too, but his wasn't always the case back in the dark ages.

Now-a-days, I think Clear Channel does a good job with all the Bobcat games they carry-but not having Dean Alexander was a loss-even though I think Atteberry does a very good job. But the most positive on the radio side is vastly increased network Statewide.

I also think the local and statewide news media do a better job of covering MSU than was the case just a couple of years ago.

P.S. I should also acknowledge this website as yet another example of improved Bobcat related media!

The Big Sky channel talked about in the Great Falls article is channel 22 (or maybe 24).
