When are the court dates?

Post by 94VegasCat » Sun Dec 03, 2023 12:19 am

I’ve asked a few times in various threads. No answers. Can someone clarify? When are the court dates for our coordinators?

How does Garza keep getting continuances? It’s been over a year now. Is that a normal time frame for a DUI in Gallatin County? Seems ridiculous.

Over a year for Garza and who knows about Housewrong.

At a very minimum, neither gets a renewal of contract.

The “new” county attorney ran against Marty Lambert largely on a platform of adding speed and efficiency to the Gallatin County courts. Has anything improved?

Maybe try finding something positive in your life instead of investing so much energy in hate.

Or, how about having a resolution for repeat DUI offenders on less than a year? That seems like a reasonable request. Not sure how it’s hateful.

An omnibus hearing is a pretrial hearing. It is usually held soon after a defendant's arraignment. The main purpose of the hearing is to determine the evidence, including testimony and evidence seized at the time of arrest.

Omnibus hearings include full "discovery" of evidence (maps, photos, etc.) and witnesses. At the omnibus hearing, you must be prepared to bring all documents that you anticipate will be introduced as evidence at the trial and you must provide a copy of each potential exhibit to the opposing party.

Does the university pay for representation for Housewright since he was (allegedly) driving a state vehicle? Has he confessed to that or is he still going with the Wasn’t Me nonsense after (allegedly) swapping cars with a buddy.

That’s a good idea question about the vehicle. If he checked the vehicle out of a motor pool and gets a DUI, then he’ll be fired by the state based on my recollection of that policy. So, no, in that situation. I’m not sure what the policy is if the car is a perk.

A lot of people are pissed that both aren’t gone already, but I think a DUI defendant can keep from being fired from just about any job with the right lawyer until they are found guilty. I have to believe that’s what is happening here.

Forgot all about how it was yet another coach involved by aiding and abetting. Boneheaded decisions to not Uber, drive a state vehicle, crashing it, and then compounded by more mistakes in a comically pathetic attempted coverup.

Embarrassing.

Too lazy to look but I’m wondering if there is a pro bono attorney for these guys like the Gris used to have (still do?) with Paul Ryan and before that Uncle Milty Destopolous.

Better hope not. That’s probably a red flag for an NCAA violation. Maybe if you’re not a player it’s different.

I’m not a big proponent of firing someone over a DUI but public opinion on high profile people makes it tricky. The penalties handed out by the jurisdictions are plenty but that’s just my opinion. Obviously, rival fans are going to make it a huge deal because they want you to lose. Then there’s people who think simply drinking should be illegal.

What about firing someone over their 3rd DUI?

What about firing someone who crashes a vehicle while intoxicated and then tries hard to cover it up?

What happens when these people are leaders of young men?

These are serious questions. Does this change your outlook in any way?

I’m not sure why you care what I think, which why I pointed out that it’s just my opinion. My opinion isn’t going to make any difference. I could join their legal teams and have zero impact.

But since you asked…

we have penalties for DUIs and many other misdemeanor crimes. America loves drinking and it loves cars. So I’m good with hitting them the way we currently do. Kinda hard to encourage drinking and encourage driving but try to discourage drinking and driving.

After three duis it’s a felony so that is usually jail time and you’re not working from jail and I don’t expect you to get hired by too many outfits.

The average schmuck panics and does stupid stuff in these situations so I’m not going to pile on for that.

Young people know people get duis and I don’t really think it’s going to make a big difference to them if the person is fired or not. They would more likely want the person fired over a personality conflict than a DUI.

But what would I know? And it’s just my opinion. I’m Tom stuber who has zero weight on the matter. Oh, wait, I see I mentioned rival fans. Now I get it! 🤣🤣🤣

These are clear cut reasons to fire them.

It’s Garza’s third DUI chargein his life and clearly he didn’t learn anything from the first two. Inexcusable regardless of trial result. Guy may want to head to MCDC for a month and get some control of his what could be alcoholism.

It’s Housewright’s first charge but he was (allegedly) in a state vehicle drunk and crashed it so that’s basically an automatic dismissal for me if convicted.
