Serious Question...
Does anyone think the gris will win? I'm not meaning to be snarky, but I feel that their playoff wins were more luck than talent in some cases, with the obvious exception of Bergen. I just think the Jacks are on another level and the results of the game may be a large point spread for the victor. Thoughts?

I wouldn't be shocked if they won. I don't think I'd bet my life savings either way.nanacat wrote: ↑Thu Dec 28, 2023 11:30 amDoes anyone think the gris will win? It's easy for a team to come out flat after a long layoff. If a pick-6 goes their way, or they continue to score in the kick/punt return games, I could very easily see UM winning.

I wouldn't be shocked either. I'm betting a few bucks on them winning. That way if they do win and I'm disappointed, I'll have some money in my pocket.wbtfg wrote: ↑Thu Dec 28, 2023 11:34 amI wouldn't be shocked if they won. But I think you're right about the long layoff. They've been absolutely on fire. It will be interesting to see if they can keep that going.
I also think their home crowd made the difference in the last two games. I'd be stunned if SDSU gave up a Bergen return TD after all they've seen and all the time they'll have to prepare for him. I think SDSU's defense can shut down the gris offense, but I agree with you; I think if the gris win they'll have at least two non-offensive TD's.

Re: Serious Question...
I’m not putting sdsu on the same level as those NDSU teams that won it, but I feel like this game is going to be a lot like MSU vs NDSU in Frisco. Won’t be as big of a blow out. although the score will probably be similar to if Mellot didn’t get hurt. I’m guessing SDSU wins by 17. Just don’t see the griz getting lucky enough to pull off the upset. SDSU offensively has playmakers at every skill position that the qb can get the ball too. Baring any injury I just don’t see SDSU losing this one. Especially when they got players that have been on this stage.wbtfg wrote: ↑Thu Dec 28, 2023 11:34 amI wouldn't be shocked if they won. Re: Serious Question...
I don't disagree. But we've also seen how losing a starting QB to injury on the opening drive can impact the rest of the game. If SDSU suffers that kind of fluke injury, that could really change how they operate.jgrilley406 wrote: ↑Thu Dec 28, 2023 11:48 amI’m not putting sdsu on the same level as those NDSU teams that won it, but I feel like this game is going to be a lot like MSU vs NDSU in Frisco. I'm just saying I can easily imagine a scenario where UM wins the game.

Re: Serious Question...
If the SDSU QB doesn't get hurt, and if SDSU doesn't turn the ball over several times, UM won't have much of a chance in this one. I think the odds makers said SDSU -13.5. I think SDSU will cover that and then some. IMO there's a greater chance of this game being a SDSU blowout than a game where UM somehow pulls off the upset. Of course each game plays our differently so there is always that chance..... but it is absolutely insane how many seniors are on that team so you know they are veteran. Basically the same team that thumped NDSU in Frisco last year, but with an additional year of growth and improvement. I think SDSU will control the LOS on both sides of the ball.
The only think guaranteed here is that if UM does pull off the upset, Griz fans will be completely unbearable for the next year. Who am I kidding, that will be the case win or lose, lol.

Re: Serious Question...
Any team can beat any other team in a 1 game series. There have been plenty of big upsets in the college football world over the years.
But outside of Denny Washington Stadium, um will need multiple things to go their way in order to pull the upset - multiple turnovers, or multiple D/ST scores, or key injuries to Sdsu, etc.
If you were forced to bet $10,000 of your own money on who would win the game outright, who would you put it on? I think even griz fans would say Sdsu.

Re: Serious Question...
This is a game that SDSU wins probably 8, maybe 9 out of 10 times. But anything can happen, injuries, Bergen somehow gets loose again, a pick 6 that flips the momentum, etc.
so I wouldn’t say they have no chance, but I’d be surprised if they pulled it off.
Bobby’s record in the championship will stay perfect.

Griz feast on momentum. First time playing outside of their stadium since cat griz. Their crowd will still show up. I see this game as a 60/40 game.

So you think the griz beat sdsu 4 out of 10 times? No way dude. Maybe 1 in 10.Common Cat wrote: ↑Thu Dec 28, 2023 12:48 pmGriz feast on momentum. First time playing outside of their stadium since cat griz. Their crowd will still show up. I see this game as a 60/40 game.

It's been said but if SDSU doesn't turn the ball over much if at all, and don't allow points on ST, I think they win going away.
I just don't see that UM offense doing much against SDSU defense. I think UM D will hold their own, but it won't be enough.

Re: Serious Question...
You might be right. I want to believe you are! But they’re on a heater right now. I think they have tremendous team confidence. Given that- still think the Jacks are a better team.91catAlum wrote: ↑Thu Dec 28, 2023 12:57 pmSo you think the griz beat sdsu 4 out of 10 times? No way dude. And to add in an edit - The 60/40 applies to this one game. If I was looking at a ten game spread, no I do not believe the griz would win 4 times. That’s also very odd to think about.

Re: Serious Question...
So were the Cats in playoffs in '21. A 3 week layoff coupled with Tommy getting hurt completely derailed it. Also, the Griz just aren't the same outside of WaGriz. It will be hard for them to feed on momentum when 50% (or more as I'm sure the SDSU fans got their tickets when they went on sale in Sept) of the crowd is Blue and Yellow.Common Cat wrote: ↑Thu Dec 28, 2023 1:11 pmYou might be right. If there is a betting angle to be had and I'm thinking I might do it, it's Jacks -6.5 first half. I genuinely see this getting out of hand early and less than a TD at half is a a very reasonable bet.

Re: Serious Question...
I’ll bet first person who responds $50 on a straight bet on SDSU winning. Any Gris fans have confidence enough to accept? This is a win at least 4/5 times for the Jacks.
