I didn't have Adam Jones on my bingo card for being the back up RB. I thought he was awesome in Spring ball, but beating out Elliott and White. Are those guys injured?

2023?

OL shakeup due to injury.

Surprised to see Eckert starting at DT.

Caught my eye as well. Guess he just beat out the other guys?

Crews at LS. Sullivan is amazingly an unsung hero.

Where’s the new WR transfer? I’m guessing all will get plenty of reps.

I don’t think Ryan King beat anyone out in camp.

Not surprised by OL moves until Perkins gets back. However, Aidan Kaplan getting on the two-deep as a true freshman at center is very encouraging meaning he may have the fast track to be the starting center next year if he beats out Jaden Perkins or Zac Nyland. I like stability at center and a true frosh competing early is a very good sign. The RB depth will be 4-5 deep but I'm not surprised Adam Jones is listed as the #2 given what I saw in the spring game.

On defense, Eckert earning a starting nod is awesome as we needed a quick study at that position after Sebastian left. However, it's also encouraging given the fact Brott had a really good camp and Black is back healthy. I also know Sharbano and Marsh are close to cracking the rotation so I think we have 5-6 quality players on the interior. As for LBs, Bryce Grebe continues to climb and appears to have beat out Cole Bullock as Neil Daily is listed as the other backup. Ryan Krake and Cole Taylor should also get run but one of Grebe, Daily, or Bullock are going to have to show they can be that 3rd guy this year and, based on prior years, we are going to need a 3rd/4th LB to compete in the rotation.

Everything else appears as expected to me. They want Caden Dowler to move around a lot so he may see reps at nickel then may be back at SS in certain packages. A nice chess piece to have!

Any idea how long Dru Polidore will be out?

A decent amount of pretty impactful injuries to start off the year……. Perkins, Julius Davis, Polidore…. Any others I’m missing?

Wonder whether Coon may see the field at RB. He seemed really strong this spring.

Also, its amazing that we've been able to keep Ellliott in the fold for all four years, given that he is a talented back who went from primary backup as a frosh to well down the depth chart later on (though he ended up seeing a lot of time anyway due to injuries). Thought for sure we would lose him in the offseason. Sign of a good program is being able to keep kids like that.

I'm wondering the same. That's a significant absence!

I think it's an awesome testament to OL recruiting and development at MSU that when they lose interior OL, they move tackles inside and insert new ones. Most programs are scrambling to find two decent starting tackles. The Cats have a surplus.

I’m a HUGE Tommy “tough knuckles” Sullivan guy. Long Snappers do not get enough love. That being said, I would really enjoy seeing the backup get a rep or two during a blowout.

Presser seemed to indicate JT reed isn’t quite ready yet. Hopefully Mastel is good to go.

Is anyone surprised Dylan Rollins didn't make the two deep? Also, I just went through the roster on the website. They have Jake Vigen listed as a sophomore. Is that a typo?

Our OL depth is fantastic, and he’s been away from football for a couple years. And I feel like somebody said he’s hurt?

Definitely a testament to depth and talent that one of the guys that Cat fans were most excited about signing this offseason isn’t even on the 2 deep to start the season.
We lose Wehr, Sain, Reed, and Perkins to graduation after this year and all indications show that the OL should just reload next year again.

….and, hopefully, the Cats lose no one to the portal.

Third year in the program, so redshirt year, freshman year, and now sophomore year.

He's getting back into football shape. Would be great if we could redshirt him to get one year of development back under his belt. Likely a starting guard for us next year. Nothing to worry about.
