I don’t have much to complain about, I love that we have such great coverage and I’d rather them build us up as an underdog then blow smoke up our asses. I do agree on your Griz take, however, a lot of Griz fans complain a lot more about comments Colter has made. I’d rather the griz buy the hype that defensively they have turned a corner, they have not. The only comment that throws me for a loop was that, Hauck’s dream game is 31-3, may ass, I have seen his teams run up the score any chance they can get. If we subbed the 2’s and 3’s similar to how they do, throwing a few backups in while keeping starters in, we’d have 2-3 shutouts.iaafan wrote: ↑Wed Oct 30, 2024 8:01 amThese guys are just begging for Idaho to be good, for UM to be good, for MSU to not be all that good. Just about everything they say leads you that way.
For example: last game Chachere was going to be a problem, the week before Idaho’s defense was going to be a problem before the game, then not having Layne was the problem, this week MSU’s secondary is a problem because Chism is so good.
Their take on the gris win over UNC is strange also. They just move the goal posts every week. I get it that they need to make it interesting but it’s obvious that’s all they’re doing. They’re not stupid.
The takes from Tootel are honestly just wild. And they have been for a couple years. I'm just one dude, who's opinion doesn't matter. But for all the reasons you just mentioned, I have pretty much pulled away from Colters shows. I do listen to every Wednesdays show with Sam. I find it interesting to get the national perspective.iaafan wrote: ↑Wed Oct 30, 2024 8:01 amThese guys are just begging for Idaho to be good, for UM to be good, for MSU to not be all that good. Colter says the MSU vs EWU game is more interesting than gris vs Poly because EWU is better than Poly. He might want to take a look at the Poly at UNC and Poly at Idaho box scores. Not to mention how much better MSU is than um. He gives the impression that since um struggled vs EWU that MSU will too.
Thanks! Not sure why I like listening to you guys talk about QB situation in Missoula, but it is entertaining. lol.
Thanks Colter! I don't know where some of these posters get their idea about you guys being slanted towards the Griz or whatever, but I watch\listen to almost all your stuff and I never get the idea of it being biased. I think the majority of listeners feel this way. So... thanks for all the great content and keep up the great work!Colter_Nuanez wrote: ↑Wed Oct 30, 2024 10:41 amI think those that think we talk up the Griz and talk down the Cats don't listen to all the shows or the content...
We have consistently for almost 8 weeks straight been debating if this is the best Big Sky team in relativity to its competition in the history of our time covering Big Sky football with both Ty Gregorak and Mike Rider. Just finished doing a Big Sky power rankings with Sammy Akem and he said it's not close, Cats are No. 1. Cats are in a tier all their own. And I'm completely agree.
I have said more this season than any in my 18-year career that this Bobcat team is dominant, special and has all the juice to make a deep run and is the top national title contender of any of the 15 MSU teams I've covered.
Also, you are reading too deeply into what I said about MSU and EWU. I think Montana State will smash EWU. Just like I think MSU will smash every team on its schedule. We sometimes have to placate to drive some sort of interest in the games that aren't the biggest games. Montana State is 4-TD favorites against almost every team in the league....
Montana State is head and shoulders better than anyone in the Big Sky and that is both because Montana State is historically deep and talented, and that the rest of the Big Sky is down.
I do a total of about 23 hours of recorded content every week. It's hard to be concise and get the overall points of all of it unless you listen to all of it.
One last note - if you noticed, we did 80 percent of our content the week of the Vandals-Bobcats game on that game. That will again be the case the UC Davis game and the Brawl coming up.
This week's Tuesdays with Tootell doesn't have much when it comes to the Cats because....they didn't play...
As always, thanks for the feed back!!
One of the things that I really love about this team so far. Offensively, I think we are just doing what we do, and not going overboard trying to exploit any weaknesses of our opponent. In other words, I haven't seen an occasion where I've felt like we have outsmarted ourselves. We just do what we do and know that no one is going to stop it.Colter_Nuanez wrote: ↑Wed Oct 30, 2024 10:41 amI think those that think we talk up the Griz and talk down the Cats don't listen to all the shows or the content...

Any group of people anywhere will have a subset of people that view life with a victim mentality. Seems to be even more prevalent in sports fans. Rarely is it about the content produced, but about the filter through which it is received. Keep up the great work that we are spoiled with at the FCS level.Colter_Nuanez wrote: ↑Wed Oct 30, 2024 10:41 amI think those that think we talk up the Griz and talk down the Cats don't listen to all the shows or the content...

I'm not saying that I don't think you say enough about MSU or talk them down and you're right I don't watch a lot of episodes. Just that I don't agree with your takes on this episode and that I think you want Idaho, um and MSU to be more even, which I can't blame you for. I just don't think Idaho is all that good. They're just like or barely better than a huge chunk of teams...Idaho, um, Davis, PSU, ISU, WSU NAU and even Cal Poly.Colter_Nuanez wrote: ↑Wed Oct 30, 2024 10:41 amI think those that think we talk up the Griz and talk down the Cats don't listen to all the shows or the content...

Yes I know that sounds cliche, and all teams say it but it does feel like this team might be something special. Thinking back to all the player interviews after the season ended, all through Spring and Fall, how all the players talked about how everyone took it upon themselves to get better each day and work hard for something bigger, etc. If you think we were all disappointed with how that season ended, think about the players. It does look like they have put in the work, and it is playing out on the field.
I don't think Idaho is close to Montana State's level. I don't think Montana is either. I've said that repeatedly on the record. I said on live radio during my Bobcat pre-game tailgate show a score prediction of 35-7. Almost nailed it.iaafan wrote: ↑Wed Oct 30, 2024 3:49 pmI'm not saying that I don't think you say enough about MSU or talk them down and you're right I don't watch a lot of episodes. Not sure what I missed but it sounded like you thought the MSU vs EWU game would be more competitive than UM vs Poly. Poly isn't any worse than EWU from what I can see and UM is just barely better than EWU. I think um caught a huge break playing NAU without their starting QB. Poly has stunk the last few years, but they've been competive/close in several games.
I don't think the gris looked like they could just do whatever they wanted against UNC. They wanted to score another TD late and didn't. Even if they decided to bag it after the last play that hardly says that they weren't trying to score and it looked like Hauck thought the clock stopped and was prepping for another play. um only scored on 4 of 9 drives against UNC...I mean, c'mon, that's not impressive.
Anyway, I hope that disagreeing with you guys is taken with a grain of salt and that you welcome it. Fun to interact with you and see you interact with fans. I don't think that you dislike the Cats just because you went to um or anything like that.
I don't think you love the griz or hate the Cats.Colter_Nuanez wrote: ↑Wed Oct 30, 2024 3:54 pmI don't think Idaho is close to Montana State's level. I don't think Montana is either. I do think the MSU-EWU game will be more competitive. I've seen EWU live twice this year. They are no good on defense. But they are way better on offense than Cal Poly and will score a few points. That said, becuase they will score some points, MSU won't have to call off the dogs... and the Top 10 rushing games in MSU history will be up for grabs in Cheney on Saturday.
I was completely unimpressed with the Griz against Northern Colorado. Just like I've been largely unimpressed with Montana all year. I've said that constantly on my ESPN radio show. I guess that was a miss on this specific episode....
I love the banter and the conversation! I also love when people disagree. I just hate when people disagree and then say "these guys only think this way because they love the Griz." Which just isn't true
This is a great write up Colter. I would love to see it on X or Facebook for everyone to see. Well written and very true!Colter_Nuanez wrote: ↑Wed Oct 30, 2024 3:50 pmcatatac wrote: ↑Wed Oct 30, 2024 1:04 pmAgree. The other thing I love about this team is the brotherhood. The one point I've made recently that I want to continue to emphasize is that one of the most amazing things about covering a group of young men on their sports journey is when you see them fall just short and fall just short....only to have it motivate them, reignite and continue to build. With the exception a few guys who decided to chase the bag, that's this Cat team.
Tommy Mellott has arguably been the face of the entire university since he went nuts in the playoffs in 2021. To watch him come up just short in the state championship game at Butte on the eve of Cat-Griz....then to get the Cats to the natty only to get hurt.....to ice skating at South Dakota State in 2022....to the injury and heart break against NDSU...
And then to see him come back with an absolute vengeance and the focus of a champion for his last year...and to have him as the leader for the Walter Payton Award....And to have the Cats as a real national title contender....
And you add Brody Grebe, Justus Perkins, Marcus Wehr, Kenneth Eiden, McCade O'Reilly, Danny Uluilekepa, Simeon Woodard, Rylan Ortt, Cole Sain and so many others to that group.....
Try, try, try again, and then get a chance to truly summit Everest.....this dynamic is almost completely gone in men's basketball. It makes me so sad. But what the Cats have the opportunity to do this year is why we love sports and what you get into becoming a sportswriter and story teller for.
I listen to most of your stuff. Cats, griz, vandals, bengals. Whoever, I love football. I love listening to people talk about football. Nobody covers the Big Sky like you guys do. The QB situation in Missoula is fascinating and I debate it with my griz buddies all the time. Hell I even caught myself singing the stupid cash one pawn jingle the other day!Colter_Nuanez wrote: ↑Wed Oct 30, 2024 10:41 amI think those that think we talk up the Griz and talk down the Cats don't listen to all the shows or the content...
