WOW! Bobby actually gave credit to Vigen, Tommy and Brody, and actually called them by their names, not just their numbers.

Choate called all their opponents players by numbers. Not a big deal.

Didn't remember that. But Bobby has generally been pretty tight with compliments. Today was a little different.

it does from hauck. he doesn't ever call by name - just by position.

It's standard gameplanning. When outlining your plan, you are identifying numbers, not people. You want your players during the game to know where #41 since it's a quick identification. Could/should the Head Coaches know better? Of course, but I guarantee their game plan uses numbers, not names.....and it's a carryover from that.

Regardless of gamesmanship, what Choate did, etc, he was far more complimentary than I recall ever hearing before. Gave Vigen a bunch of credit, as well as Tommy and Brody. Usually he's snide, abrupt, and vague. This interview seemed different. Perhaps he just knows, and accepts, how much better this Cats team is across the board, especially compared to his team this year.

Or maybe someone with some influence in his career reminded him who pays the bills and he better get rid of the clown act.

I can almost guarantee Bobby was scolded for the sh!tshow on the sideline. Not a good look for the program and not the kind of stuff they should be worried about coming into this particular game. To win on Saturday they need to be polished, disciplined and synced up. A well oiled machine if you will. Looks like the opposite over there to me.

One thing Coach Vigen mentioned at the end of his presser was the disappointment of holding the high school championships at the same time as Cat-Griz. I've felt this way for years. How cool would it be to have all of the chippers in the opposing city (Missoula this year) starting with the 6 and 8 man championships on Thursday then the B, A, and AA on Friday in the same stadium? Instead of a handful of fans traveling to Baker or Eureka or all points in between, all the fans could gather in one city and watch all of the championships be decided. I know it's done in the neighboring states and think it would be a great experience for all those involved. It's sad that some of our best high school coaches and players miss watching Cat-Griz because they have their own game to play.

Another thing I noticed during the interviews was the attitudes of the players. Tommy is always pretty business- like in his interviews, but both Ortt and Grebe seemed comfortable and confident, were smiling, etc. The griz boys just didn't look that way. I'm sure part of that is due to the Cats are just having fun, winning is fun. Sure, they are focused and preparing for the next game, but they're enjoying the season, the team loves each other, the coaches and players have a bond that's different than year's past. Same can't really be said for the other guys. There's strain, frustration, maybe even a lack of trust.

I don't know, this is pretty standard for gris player interviews, they always have BH sitting right there and they don't want to say something wrong so they are real hesitant.

On our player interviews they are alone and know that the coach trusts them to not say the wrong things, they always seem much more relaxed and confident.

It is more just different ways that the coaches run the programs.
