Last home game at Bobcat Stadium...

...for all our seniors, but even more significant is that this is the final game to be played at Bobcat Stadium by this team's leader and possibly it's strongest captain, Tommy Mellott. We have all watched Tommy grow up in this program. From freshman thrown into the fire to ultimately the best offensive player in the FCS. It's only been four short years, but it's hard to imagine not watching Tommy lead this team onto the field at Bobcat Stadium in the greatest college run-out next season.

Next Saturday's semifinal game will be special in so many ways, but I feel this might be the most significant. Our crowd, our fans, our players will feel this energy when we take the field to make one final stand towards the title game. This has been a special group of seniors, maybe to have experienced the most success of any class before them. The Bobcats have made the semifinals 4 of the last 5 seasons, and a lot of that is due in large part to Tommy's leadership.

Let's make sure as fans we do our part on Saturday to get Tommy, his fellow seniors, and all the great Bobcats on this year's squad to the national championship game. As President Waded Cruzado loves to say at the end of all her speeches, "Loud and clear, with Blue & Gold coursing through our veins - GO CATS GO!!!"

I think it's safe to say that there aren't going to be any more numbers retired, if you retire #4 then what about 15 and 9 and 14 and others.

Instead of retiring #4, perhaps its the jersey that always has a unique line of gold outlining that number, no matter the jersey version.

Or do the ring of honor where jersey with number and name on back is hung, but number is still used.

If they gave Troy's number to the holder they aren't going to retire Tommy's. (Potentially) winning a national championship is bigger than anything Troy accomplished but it's still not going to happen.

I'd be in favor of some sort of "Ring of Honor", etc. without retiring number. Something very visible on gameday, but if we continue retiring numbers we will run out.

Yeah, that is how it needs to go.
