Wazzu just lost their HC

Like you said, the above post has solid reasons why. From what I’ve seen, the fans are already bringing up his name, too. I get that’s not exactly a solid lead, but it shows how much interest he already hasmslacatfan wrote: ↑Wed Dec 18, 2024 9:39 am
Pretty bold statement…. Is there a reason you feel that way? Connection on the current staff with Vigen or anything? Is it a job that Vigen has expressed interest in in the past?
Edit- the above posts answered my question.
Hope we don’t lose him.

Oh he would absolutely leave Nevada for wazzu if offered.mslacatfan wrote: ↑Wed Dec 18, 2024 9:45 amGoldstoneCat wrote: ↑Wed Dec 18, 2024 9:43 amHard to know if wazzu can sell an fcs head coach to the boosters. That would make sense…. As far as choate goes, he has been at Nevada much longer then he typically likes to stick around for his coaching jobs before moving on.
I wouldn't be too quick on that statement. First of all, the PAC 2 is still a complete sh!t show organization-wise. 2nd - Their ability to attract talent relies heavily on the portal which is a crap-shoot from season to season and lastly, the quality of life for a family in Pullman is not good. It's purely a college town and located in the middle of nowhere.
I doubt they'll be very concerned about selling anything to the boosters. Washington State is in a very different place now than they were when Wulff was hired and the Pac-12 had USC and Oregon in it instead of Fresno State and Utah State.GoldstoneCat wrote: ↑Wed Dec 18, 2024 9:43 amHard to know if wazzu can sell an fcs head coach to the boosters. For sure but they still view themselves as a P4 program regardless of what the facts say. Not saying Vigen couldn't get it but more likely to go hunting for bigger game IMO. Maybe I'm just wishcasting.MSU01 wrote: ↑Wed Dec 18, 2024 9:51 amI doubt they'll be very concerned about selling anything to the boosters. I can't see a Power 4 team hiring him as their head coach straight from MSU, Chris Kleiman to Kansas State worked out pretty well but that is going to be the exception rather than the norm. I think he'd have to go somewhere like Washington State and have some success there for a few years (like Dickert did) to get legitimate looks as a Power 4 HC. I suppose he could also go the Choate route and take a coordinator job in the FBS, although I'm not sure if Choate's ending up at one of the worst FBS programs in the nation and losing out on recruits to MSU would sell that pathway too successfully purely from a career advancement standpoint.Camo_Cat wrote: ↑Wed Dec 18, 2024 10:03 amMeh...maybe I'm uneducated, but I don't see Coach taking that job. The Pac-12 is a mess, and Wazzu's position in that conference is unstable. Sure, it would be more money. But if Coach truly does aspire to move up, I just feel like there will be better opportunities. He's already been with a Mountain West team in a conference that means nothing. With the Power 4 kicking the Pac-12 to the curb, those Pac-12 teams are just as insignificant as a Mountain West team. Vigen can and will do better.
I get that sentiment, but a potential 500%+ raise is hard to turn downCamo_Cat wrote: ↑Wed Dec 18, 2024 10:03 amMeh...maybe I'm uneducated, but I don't see Coach taking that job. His younger kids wouldn't have even had to change schools.BelligerentBobcat wrote: ↑Wed Dec 18, 2024 10:06 amThey should be. He would’ve been a great fit there. He probably regrets it too.
