Didn't want to start a new thread so I guess this is a good place to post this.

Went to Home Depot yesterday and as I walked by the service counter, I heard an employee say "Must suck to be a Bobcat fan today". I turned and said sternly "It never sucks to be a Bobcat fan". I walked a little further and hear "Well, they did just lose in Frisco on Monday". I turned back around, glared and said "It's NEVER sucked to be a Bobcat fan and it NEVER will"

Sure I've been disappointed, especially on Monday night. I was disappointed for 16 straight years, especially in 1997 and 1998 when the Cats lost heartbreakers to the Gris. I'm not particularly happy about the players we're losing to the transfer portal, and the coaches we're losing to FBS schools. I've even grumbled about the rising cost of parking and the old tailgating rules not allowing fans to carry in a rack of beer. But it will never suck to be a Bobcat fan.

Just wanted to take a moment to acknowledge the athletes who wake up early to grind in the weight room, excel in the classroom, and sacrifice a huge portion of their college careers so we, as fans, can take pride in the Bobcat program. To all of the coaches, administrative staff, Leon, & President Cruzado, THANK YOU for believing in and supporting the athletic programs and university as a whole. The amount of support and love I saw for this team in Frisco was beyond amazing. The future is exciting, momentum is building, and the Bobcats ARE ON THE RISE!

As our radio play by play man says, a bad day of being a Bobcat is still better than a good day of being a grizzly.

After our loss in 2022, I was in Fort Worth the next day. I had two ladies wearing North Dakota State gear come up and apologize to me for all the money and resources I wasted to watch my team lose in Texas.
I smiled and said thank you for your genuine concern. I said that is what I love about people from Fargo is they are so genuine. They left a little pissed off.
The statement that came to mind, but I never said was, I know how you must feel after you wasted all that money putting lipstick on a pig.
The team that was better coached and prepared and made the least mistakes won on Monday. I would still ride with the cats seven times out of 10. Really enjoyed watching this whole class that is graduating as well as the underclassmen that worked their tails off as well.

Had a funny interaction with a "surprise" fan after the game. We drove down to the game and just got back last night. On our way back, we drove thru Oklahoma and Kansas before hitting the interstate north of Denver. We stopped at a small convenience store just north of Oklahoma City and a guy saw me wearing a Bobcat sweatshirt. He was obviously a local to that area and had a real Oklahoma accent. We struck up a conversation and, after having him repeat what he said because of his accent, I found out that he and his girlfriend in Kansas are big Taco Dowler fans. Not sure how they got hooked into that fandom, but he just wanted to let me know that. Then, as I was filling my gas tank at the pump, he came out and wanted to talk about the game. He had a lot of questions about the coaching decisions that were made, none of which I could answer. He said that he didn't understand why we didn't have Taco back to return the punt at the end of the game - thinking that a punt return was our best chance to score with 10 seconds left. I again couldn't answer that, but he classified it as the stupidest call since Pete Carroll's call to throw a pass from the 1-yard line against the Patriots in the Super Bowl. In the end, I think he was more disappointed in the outcome of the game than I was! I guess maybe it shows that the Cats have made an impression further that we may realize.

I had a very similar interaction with a town pump cashier in East Helena. My response was "Did you get your Master's or Doctorate at UM?" to which he said "huh?"

Our shuttle driver from the Boothill Inn to the airport was telling us he hoped MSU would lose. Ended up being the same guy when we returned, he said he was absolutely pumped that MSU lost. I feel the same way when its reversed, so no hard feelings. But, I didnt feel inclined to help pay his student loans back. So, no tip! Ha!

I'm sure this will happen in other cities in Montana too. Stand by. If you've been to this event before, you know it's a fundraiser and to bring your check book or credit card.
