What is the QB Outlook

So, what is your view on who and why on QB going forward?
I don’t know where to Vigen. Don’t Reed too much into what I’m about to say, but if you Duchein everything together, then there’s a good Chance that MSU will be very good at quarterback. Considering all the talent at the position I don’t think the Bobcats will be up a River.
A bit of a stretch but well done, Tom!TomCat88 wrote: ↑Sun Jan 26, 2025 10:01 amI don’t know where to Vigen. Damn!!! Love it. I just always feel like I’m typing what QB the will have a chance this year and cheesy sense of humor chuckles that we have a Chance on the roster so I dad joked it.kwcat wrote: ↑Sun Jan 26, 2025 10:17 amA bit of a stretch but well done, Tom!TomCat88 wrote: ↑Sun Jan 26, 2025 10:01 amI don’t know where to Vigen. I would not be surprised to see one of the QB's currently on the roster develop into a top 3 finalist for the Walter Payton award again, while on the Bobcat football team going forward.
Agree and disagree. Agree that developing talent, especially at the QB spot is key, where I disagree is that it doesn’t always work. This staff has been extremely careful to bring in portal players that match the team’s chemistry, they bring in players with great character. Griz literally cast out a large net and take who ever bites. I trust if we bring someone in they will be great, much like Chambers was, of course he had a history with Vigen, he also is of high character.superbobcat wrote: ↑Sun Jan 26, 2025 11:49 amWhile I believe the 25 team will be competitive, I think it will a year to grow and develop our young talent. I don't think bringing in mature QB is the answer. It looks good, but doesn't always work, as the griz have found out .
I’ll be totally surprised but in a great way.Bobcatsinmso wrote: ↑Sun Jan 26, 2025 11:09 amI would not be surprised to see one of the QB's currently on the roster develop into a top 3 finalist for the Walter Payton award again, while on the Bobcat football team going forward.![]()
he turned em down because he wanted a better offer that didn't come.Deepball wrote: ↑Sun Jan 26, 2025 3:45 pmIm super intrigued by the incoming freshman Warren. I watched his highlights and was able to find a couple of full game films online. This kid is the real deal. He is a very good passer and an efficient runner. Based on everything I read he played a very high level of high school football. I think this kid might be our next QB. Another thing I love is he turned Colorado state and Toledo down on signing day. I guess they made a late push to flip him but he didn’t budge which means he truly wants to be here.
If true that he turned them down on signing day, that means those offers came in the same time as ours…Montanabob wrote: ↑Sun Jan 26, 2025 4:08 pmhe turned em down because he wanted a better offer that didn't come.Deepball wrote: ↑Sun Jan 26, 2025 3:45 pmIm super intrigued by the incoming freshman Warren. McKay was a pretty decent quarterback. And I maintain that until he took the one specific hit in the Weeber State game. And it seemed to flip a switch that he didn’t get over. Don’t know if it was injury or what. But that seem to be the tipping point.TomCat88 wrote: ↑Sun Jan 26, 2025 12:56 pmI predict that whoever plays QB for MSU this season will be at least slightly better, statistically, than Matt McKay and a much better overall decision-maker than McKay. In case that worries you, McKay was a 150+ pass efficiency guy (Gronowski: 147.3 in 2024) and only threw 3 interceptions. He also averaged 4.1 yards per carry and had 316 yards rushing in 11 games (Cam Miller: 4.4/631 in 16 games; Gronowski: 3.9/380 in 15 games).
Cats won't be taking a year off to grow and develop young talent, imo! That's not the expectations for anyone, AD, Fan Base, Coaches, Players. This program is now built to compete annually for BSC and National Championships. If the staff feels like they don't have the pieces to do that they will look to the portal for those pieces. If that includes the QB position then I see them bringing in a QB or Safety or Linebacker, etc. There are no more rebuilding years. Expectations should be to end the 2025 season in Nashville. It's a year at a time deal now in College sports. All in!SparkCat wrote: ↑Sun Jan 26, 2025 12:40 pmAgree and disagree. Agree, if SDSU/USD didn’t get hit with the coaching changes and players leaving cause of it, I’d say cats would have a difficult road back to championship. NDSU is going to start and more than likely remain ahead of rest of the teams but other than that, the remaining four teams fighting for a semifinal spot is wide open (MSU, UM, SDSU, USD). UM is going to be a tough out just cause of that stadium, but I just don’t think that these transfer are going to better than what they lost, especially defensively. Also losing Bergen will hurt their special teams, but they always seem to have someone back returning kicks that makes the special teams a real weapon (Nguyen, JLM, Flowers, Sulser, Bergen, etc.). I fully expect cat/griz winner will get home field throughout and depending on how close the game is could possibly have a possible rematch in the semis but assuming road game to Fargo for the loser.Cats and Dogs wrote: ↑Sun Jan 26, 2025 5:32 pmCats won't be taking a year off to grow and develop young talent, imo!
