Favorite Bobcat memory

Ok. With Bobcat football just around the corner, I think it'd be fun to go over some of our favorite Bobcat football memories. What are some of the moments that stick with you? What are some of your favorite moments?

I remember the Zach Minter pick six against eastern washington that helped seal the Cats win over the eagles and handed them their only FCS loss that season. The year they won the championship

I remember the playoff game against new Hampshire and the extra point doinked off the upright. I was standing right in the end zone when that happened and the stadium went nuts!

Even last year, the Squall of the Wild, when the weather turned awful. And the players and the music started getting into it and the stadium started hopping! That was great!

What are some of your favorite Bobcat football memories?

The Les Leininger (sp?) interception and return for a TD with no time on the clock to end the half in 1976.

Watching the Cats at a house party win the D-2 National Championship in 1976 ranks right up there.

Oh yeah and there was one game. I can't remember who it was against. But this was back when the student section was on the 30 yard line. I remember I told Kevin Retoriono (sp?) That he should score more points than the entire opposing offense. He got a pick six that game. He came up to the student section after that and I remember congratulating him for a job well done! He nearly beat their offense in scores that game. It was a proper Bobcat beat down.

When I was a fifth grader and my bobcat hero Kevin Lundstrom signed my mini helmet in the parking lot of the Fieldhouse, walking back after a game. Other than that, 2002 in Missoula when the streak was broken, watching my mom and dad basically crying and watching the jiz fans almost crying, it was classic.

Travis Lulay's last game in 2005 when we beat the frizzzzzz 16-6 in the mud and muck. The players put Lulay on their shoulders and the fans stormed the field. I watched from the crappy old end zone seats as the fans tore down the goal post and carried it off.

Joey Thomas running the kickoff back against the gris.
Junior Adam’s catch to end the streak.
Troy’s tackle against SDSU in the semis.
Tommy’s run vs USD in the semis for a TD.
The absolute white out game against SDSU, even though the Cats got beat.
Chris Murry’s fake stumble pass to clinch the win in Missoula.
Beating the gris in Missoula when they decided to wear Idaho states JV uniforms.
Lulay leading the team to a win against NAU (maybe weber) down two scores with two minutes to go.

Games:

2018 Miracle in Missoula
2019 Demolished the griz (a cathartic bookend to 2002)

Players:
Troy scoring TDs (especially the ones where you knew he would score whether he was 20, 40 or 50+ yards away)
The Travis Jonsen play working every single time
The origin of Touchdown Tommy

The anticipation and excitement of being in Frisco, fully expecting a national championship (or 2) have been my most exciting days, but the Weber long-snapper fiasco might have been the most enjoyable moment that ended well!

Easy one for me, being in Washington-Grizzly stadium the day MSU broke the streak in 2002. It was even sweeter because I was also there as MSU finished off its 0-11 season in 2000, wondering how in the world the Bobcats would ever be able to get a win in that series.

The Joe Roberts interception against URI.
Mark Fellows terrorizing the Arkansas State QB.
Ending the streak in Missoula. I was at all those games.

I remember sitting in the end zone seats when Paul Schaefer scored the winning touchdown on his like 58th carry on the day. Then for the second time he had to go to the bench and try to get his shoulder put back in place.

I saw sophomore QB Dennis Erickson Engineer a 38-0 takedown in Missoula in 1966. Gary Popiel ran back a punt and Don Hass ran for over 100 yards.

Sean Hill had a 93y KO return years before too, but that Corey Smith return set the tone that day!

Oh my gosh. How did I mistake that. Wowza. Thank you for the correction
