Whoa!

Interested to see the financials on these games. I'd much rather have a home and home, even if it were to take a few years to complete, but if we're getting more money this way I guess it's just another road game.

Oh hell yeah! What an awesome idea, it will be fun to see how much of Allegiant Stadium these fan bases can fill with essentially unlimited availability of tickets and years of advance notice to plan trips there.

It makes some sense to me...it's the four FCS teams that will travel better than anyone, especially to Vegas. And Vegas is having some problems getting people to come to town, so I'm sure the Chamber of Commerce and/or Visitors' Bureau threw some money at this too...I'd imagine Labor Day isn't a real popular time for conventions in Vegas. This way the teams get to play in a great stadium, maybe ESPN picks it up, and the fans get to spend more money!

Looks like Utah is playing Miami in the "Battle of the U" game at Allegiant on the same weekend.

BOZEMAN, Mont. (August 18, 2025) – Montana State has been tabbed to play North Dakota State in the 2027 Vegas Kickoff Classic in Allegiant Stadium, ESPN Events announced on Monday.

The game is set for Labor Day weekend in 2027, with game date, time and network to be determined. The game between the teams that have met in two of the four most recent FCS Championship contests precedes a contest between Miami (Fla.) and Utah on Saturday, September 4, in Allegiant Stadium.

Last year, USC topped LSU 27-20 in front of 63,969 in the second Vegas Kickoff Classic. The inaugural event occurred in 2021 with BYU topping Arizona 24-16. The 2027 showdown features three-time national champion Montana State and 18-time champion NDSU.

From the ESPN press release it sounds like our game will be Thursday or Friday night.
Two Vegas Kickoff Classic games will now be contested during Labor Day weekend in 2027. A historic, first-time matchup of Miami (Fla.) vs. Utah – billed as the “Battle of the U” — was previously announced and will take place on Saturday, September 4. That game will now be preceded by another neutral-site matchup earlier that weekend when 18-time national champion North Dakota State meets three-time national champion Montana State in Las Vegas.

First off, this is really cool and I will definitely be there!

But what I don't get is "date and time tbd" but the Miami/Utah game is Saturday and MSU/NDSU game will "precede that earlier in the weekend." Sooooooo....Friday? I mean I guess it could be Thursday night (please no) but still this makes little sense to me.

Yeah, hopefully not Thursday night. Friday night would make the most sense as then ESPN can save their Saturday slots for higher profile FBS games.

I have a feeling ESPN will figure out all their tv slots for the weekend and then determine our game in after that. It could be a while before we know date and time (like another year+). Friday night would make the most sense for their production crew.
