Attendance Saturday?

Students are still in session; however, I have always found it interesting that attendance seems to fall off a bit for playoff games.
I would think it would be the opposite. It's now sudden death football on a path to the national championship. Right now we are looking at a high of around 37 degrees with snow flurries. Perfect Bobcat football weather. Bobcat Stadium SHOULD be packed. No excuses.

There's no snow really to go skiing. So we shouldn't have lost people to the ski season like alot of years.

Remember that during the season, they count EVERYONE in the stadium. That includes players, refs, security, concession workers, etc. For playoffs they only count tickets sold or thru turnstile. Someone with more knowledge can tell if it is tickets or turnstile...

Attendance used to fall off in the playoffs but that doesn't seem to be the case much any more. But where it does the biggest reason is probably that old people get cold. My mom is an example of this and my dad generally would be too if I wasn't there to motivate him to come with me.
I fully expect us to have no trouble surpassing official capacity for each game this month.

regardless of what the announced attendance is, it will be a GREAT atmosphere.

Finals are next week as well. The timing doesn't work great with playoffs and the academic calendar.

I think their are a lot of people that go to games as a social event. I notice some regulars in our area that rarely show up to playoff games, possibly snowbirds.
The people that do attend playoff games want to be there and the crowd us usually better even if the attendance isn't as high.

The number will end in 7 and it will be underreported...no point sending the NCAA more money than necessary.

More people will go to an event that has 6 months notice than 2-4 weeks notice. But the longer msu strings playoff appearances together, the more people will set aside time in December for home playoff games.
I bet the attendance for playoff games at Bobcat Stadium has gone up steadily over the last 7-8 years as more people plan on MSU being in the playoffs.

Quite a few of regular season ticket holders frequently donate their tickets late in the season. We’ve had quite a few sit next to us during playoff games that were grateful and couldn’t afford normal tickets during the season. I think there’s also been some boosters overtime that have sponsored tickets for groups in the community, which has also helped.

I agree, no matter what the temperature or weather, its bound to be a great turnout! It's always exciting and the place is full of energy!

Playoff crowds were great last year and grew each round. The other notable thing to me... it's less of a social event than September home games. Some of the best experiences and best crowds, loudest crowds ever are home playoff crowds. Idk if I ever remember a more electric day in that stadium than the sdsu semifinal. The place was engaged and off the hook from start to finish.

That 2021 SDSU playoff game was unreal, when Andersen made that stop on 4th down in the red zone during the 1st quarter, it might have been the loudest I've heard in there, and it set the tone for the rest of the game. I do have to say though, the Seth Brock blocked punt for a TD during Gold Rush this year might have topped the decibel meter for us. That was LOUD!
Our crowds normally know what team we are playing and when the stakes are higher, then us loud ones turn it up a notch to make it one of the best atmospheres in the FCS...

A couple days ago there were only singles available other than in the north EZ. There seems to be quite a few people selling on the secondary market.

Yeah, I think the last two home playoff games last season were pretty rocking events with a lot of people there. The first playoff game against UTM was decent too, just not as fun as the final two in my mind. I know some of the older folks that sit around me don't show up if it gets too cold, but they give their tickets to friends. I believe BN will show out for this. I think there will be some fan intrigue in the Cats playing Yale rather than a UTM or Albany.

The weather will probably deter a few people. Students show up less and less when the weather starts to get cold as well.

This thread brought up two questions for me:
When does this semester end, student attendance will drop dramatically?
Has anyone ever thought about a decibel meter on the score board? Actual numbers not just a bouncing graphic.
