Can we please get Ty to fill in for the lame ESPN commentators? Who’s with me?

Play by play guy was fine. The ESPN color man was awful. Ty is way, way, way better.

Started out Saturday watching UND-Tarleton. Color guy was awful. Announcers the week before for Y vs. Y weren’t much better. I’m wondering if the FCS playoffs are simply an audition mechanism for ESPN.

They seemed to know a lot more about Yale. Maybe it was just that Yale kept it close so they were talking about them bit I rewatched first half and would have sworn Yale was winning the game.

Based on watching the first half twice, Yale was winning the game, just not on the scoreboard.

Not sure of that. They were never in scoring position or even close enough to ho for it on a 4th down. They moved ball but no long drives. Cats had the quick drive after int. The drive with hold on fake field goal that also had false start.

Agreed. I mean, Yale moved the ball well, but the MSU D tightened up when it mattered. Yale had opportunities for sure, but when it came time to make big plays, the Cats really stepped up.

Crucial INTs helped a ton! And those, for the most part, motivated the offense. I was never worried about the Cats losing the game, despite the miscues. The defense earned that win, for certain.

Where is ESPN located? Bristol, Connecticut. Where is Yale located? New Haven, Connecticut. How big is Connecticut? About the size of Cooper Park. The announcer said that he had seen Yale play twice during the year, so he at least did know more about Yale. It’s the Northeast bias that affects everything, because 80% of everything is in 20% of the area.
The color guy was terrible — if Ty would speak up more he’d be terrific, but is sometimes so soft-spoken that crowd noise drowns him out.

Didn't know the Sac State president was on their board of directors.

Yale University is exactly 30 miles from Bristol Connecticut, no wonder the espn announcers were so biased against the cats. I didn't realize until I rewatched the game the next day, no wonder they tried to make such a big deal out of the Vegan/Davis controversy. Hopefully they drop it and don't try to make it a big deal Friday, but I have my doubts. Ty is twice the color anylist the ding done from ESPN was. You would think he was wearing a Yale lacrosse sweatshirt like half of the fans i saw from Yale were wearing

Interesting takes on this. Mine is they were ok when considering the entire game. As others mentioned, Yale had more yards and much more time of possession the first half. I was more frustrated over what I saw than what I heard.
And the dude was coached by our very own Bill Kollar!

While they weren’t what were used to, I didn’t think they were all that bad. If I were them I’d talk up the underdog too. Yale arguably outplayed us, they’re not going to ignore it.

Cats didn't play well but Yale was not close to scoring in first half. Then Cats are at mid field driving for a 3 score lead with 5 to go. Not sure where announcers where from. ESPN is there but their broadcast teams are likely not. It almost seemed like they expected a blow out so when score was close they focused on Yales success.

I wouldn't mind the guys who did the semi final and championship games last year. I thought they were well prepared. Brock Osweiler was one of them and being from Montana understands the importance of all of these games.
