We just got to the bash, this place is huge. Really filling up. Beer is 7.75 for a Coors light. 13.00 for a cocktail.

At least they had Coors Light. None to be found at Barstool today. :-^

I don't think the bash was a fundraising effort, likely just trying to cover costs.

It definitely is a fundraising event benefitting the alumni association. Grossed more than $400K.

I would think they also get a cut from the drinks and food.

I can assure you this was not a fundraiser for the alumni association. Typically the alumni association will eat a portion of the costs, for example at Washington State (the first time they had to charge really) participants were charged $30 per person and the expense to alumni association was $40.

I spoke with Kerry Hanson last night during the event and their expenses were crazy. If you want those details reach out and ask they will share them with you.

Good morning! I wanted to clarify that Bobcat Bash was not a fundraising event. Our goal was simply to help offset a portion of the costs with hosting an event of this size.

Securing a venue alone comes with a significant expense, especially for 7,000 people and many event expenses aren’t always visible to attendees. But, they add up quickly. For example, for an event of this scale, a single bartender costs $225 per hour. There are many similar operational expenses that contribute to the overall cost.
While I don’t want to publicize specific totals, I hope this provides some helpful context.

Let’s make it a great game!

Simple math would likely tell you that there was no extra cash being made on that event. Tickets were $55 each and 6,800 attendees is $374,000. Cost of the space plus Sara Evans probably ate all of that and more. Add in tables, linens, security, AV etc. the alumni association almost certainly lost money.

Awesome event. I cant imagine how many hours of work went into planning and organizing. Our alumni association top notch!

I can buy everything you're saying except a bartender at $225 an hour. That makes no sense when they are charging $13 for one cocktail. That is some wild math.

Thats a funny way of saying “thank you for all your hard work to put on such a massive event!”
