Thoughts?
The FCS and divisions below have the same reasons players transfer into them for the most part - to be able to play, and in cases of kids moving from D2/D3/NAIA up to play at the highest level they can. Transfering isn’t about money. Transferring up into FBS usually is, though. Because the chance you go from being a relative star to a bench warmer for some extra cash isn’t low.coloradocat wrote: ↑Wed Jan 07, 2026 9:15 amHe said this in the morning and by the end of the day most of our TX players jumped in the portal. The FCS is purer than the FBS but only because of matters of scale. If you want "pure" football you have to go down to D2/D3/NAIA.
The money part needs transparency. Any entity receiving money from the government needs to open its books regardless of whether the money comes from private entities. Money corrupts and they need to get ahead (catch up?) of the issue.CalgaryCat wrote: ↑Wed Jan 07, 2026 11:02 amThe FCS and divisions below have the same reasons players transfer into them for the most part - to be able to play, and in cases of kids moving from D2/D3/NAIA up to play at the highest level they can. With the messes with the Oregon RBs and Washington QB is TD only a matter of time before some of the big boys make them tighten up a bit. I think it’s going to come down to players becoming employees and having a CBA. Not perfect but probably better than the way it was before, and definitely better than it is now.
If majority of money is NIL it seems like there should be contracts and if you violate it you don't get paid.CalgaryCat wrote: ↑Wed Jan 07, 2026 1:57 pmWith the messes with the Oregon RBs and Washington QB is TD only a matter of time before some of the big boys make them tighten up a bit. This will happen before the FCS implodes.
I believe legally that’s basically where it’s going, with potential buyout implicationstetoncat wrote: ↑Wed Jan 07, 2026 7:27 pmIf majority of money is NIL it seems like there should be contracts and if you violate it you don't get paid.CalgaryCat wrote: ↑Wed Jan 07, 2026 1:57 pmWith the messes with the Oregon RBs and Washington QB is TD only a matter of time before some of the big boys make them tighten up a bit.
