QB Comparison

Post by Catsrgrood » Wed Jan 07, 2026 11:36 am

We all know landing Lamson this year was monumental.
Replacing a legend and one of the greatest seasons we’ve ever seen was no small task.

It’s interesting to compare their stats now that it’s all said and done. Tommy won the Walter last year and Lamson wasn’t in the top 10 in votes this year if I recall. But in the end, they had very comparable seasons.

I don’t think anyone expected to replace Tommy’s production this effectively:

Wow that is wild

It is so interesting

It seems obvious that the offensive and defensive awards are more a momentum of hype in the media combined with excellent play that gets you there

Its a bit like the top 25 rankings, its very difficult for someone that wasnt even in the list at the beginning if the season to win the Walter Payton, buck Buchanan, Heisman, etc

One thing to keep in mind is just how lucky or even blessed we've been as Bobcat fans with the quality of our quarterbacks. I started in school when Lulay was playing and have seen McPhee, Prukop, and one of the greatest all time Bobcats with Tommy. Heck we even had Troy as a qb.
Lamson has had one of the greatest seasons I've seen. Coming in, I'm sure we all had our questions about him knowing just what giant shoes he had to fill. While similar there were a few little differences between Tommy and Lamson. Tommy would juke and weave when he ran. Lamson would straight up truck a defender and run them over. Both are great and we as fans couldn't be luckier to have such fine examples of athletes and human beings to lead our offense
