At some point, it’s not just about money. He’s incredibly competitive and I’m sure he wants to know if he can be a HC at the next level. With a national championship and the very real opportunity to compete for another in 2026, I’d say his choice of jobs has improved immensely.

He was smart and we were lucky to get him. One reason guys fail at the next level is that they inherit complete rebuild programs. In us he saw the unpolished gem., with a pretty strong fan base. I think that starting from Cliff we have had consistent better hires. The cult and fan base has grown under each guy

Not to be "that guy" but he has only won the Divide Trophy 3 times. It wasn't up for grabs in the playoffs.

Still, this graphic is great and really hammers home the point that these are the good ol' days.

He’s taken MSU to 4 semis in 5 seasons.


MSU - 17 team National Champions (most recent 2025); 57 individual National Champions (most recent 2023).
