Jhase, Lamson, Taco, and Dane are getting lots of love, and we'll deserved, but I think that blocked PAT was HUGE!! Without that, even with the amazing TD and Sanstead's PAT, the game would have gone into a 2nd OT. Such a heads up play by him!!

It should be a crime to start a thread with just the player name. I saw this and immediately panicked, thinking it was about him going to the portal.
I don't need any more heart attacks than one that the natty game gave me....

Pretty great way to go out for your senior year!
On a side note, how many people think we go for 2 if we hadn't blocked the extra point?

Well, I panicked too soon. All this portal business had me forgetting that Hunter is a senior and won't be with us next year anyway. I need to step away from the computer and take a breath.....

Yeah, this was a great play. It was low but he still needed to time his jump. Like Spack said, there were so many plays like this that any one of them could’ve swung the game.
With all that happened no one was sure the PAT was going to be good. Except maybe Johnson, Frokjer and Sansted but they just know, individually, that they’ll do their own job. Had to be nerve wracking.

I was sitting next to the ISU parent section and had a good ongoing conversation with one of the parents throughout the game. At one point I asked "how's your kicker?".....he explained that he's new and that he kicks pretty well....he just needs to get the ball up a little more, and that theres a potential for a block.
Prophetic

Hunter Parsons was getting facemasked by 67 on the xp

This reminded me that ISU did get their hands on the XP just after Dane Steel's TD. So that means there were three kicks in this game where someone got a hand on the ball.

Every time I see the replay of the blocked extra point I wonder how Petrie didn't get his neck broken with that vicious face mask. And it was not a penalty. Crazy

Parson's was such an underrated player for this last season. In this day and age, so refreshing to see somebody bide their time, wait, and put in the work to earn a spot even if it doesn't come until your last year. Consistently set the edge well, and was a pretty decent pass rusher. What a way for him to finish his senior year!

It was a penalty just not enforceable because not dead ball. If Cats accept they get to try again so would always be declined. No different than a hold or if it happened on a 4th down.

What seems so weird to me is the idea behind the rule, where once the team that had the ball has lost possession of it to the other team who is now trying to advance the ball then the team that lost the ball can commit a penalty and by doing so would get the ball back but lose some yardage for their next snap of the ball. Please tell me there is no other time or penalty in a game where that would happen or my head might explode. It makes no sense to me why they would get the ball back at all.
