CAL POLY GAME
This is a HUGE GAME this weekend. I want payback from last year! For those of you 'thinking' about coming up this weekend, make sure you GO! We need a packed stadium this weekend again and the 12th man. Tailgating was awesome last week and will be even better this weekend. Come on up and cheer on the Cats. Cal Poly is a good team and I'm sure there will be some MAJOR hitting going on this week. The BOBCATS WILL REBOUND from their slow going this weekend, I guarantee it. They now have 1 game under their belts and should be more accustomed to the game speed.
We need to be 2-0 heading down to CSU with some momentum on our side!
LETS PACK THE HOUSE!

Cal Poly beat ISU like 35-20 or something like that at ISU. Pretty impressive to into the dome and beat up on them. Think I heard Cal Poly had 2-3 turnovers for scores on defense. Kramer says Cal Poly is the best defense they play this year and I believe it.jagur1 wrote:What did Cal Poly do against ISU last weekend?

Amen. And to echo what others have said, those receivers need to shake the dropsies big-time! I saw two high-school games over the weekend, and the highi-school receivers were catching better. It's not that hard to catch a friggin football when it hits you in the hands! Maybe they're all too focused on yards after the catch, which I know Kramer has been preaching pretty heavily. I have a feeling we'll see some major improvement on Saturday!!!Bleedinbluengold wrote:Yup - the receivers and Tavis better button it up...it will be very tough going on the ground.
Great time to be a BOBCAT!

Not trying to be too negative here, but based on recent results and past history of this rivalry, I'd say Cal Poly is a 2 touchdown favorite.
Those deflected passes that fell harmlessly to the ground agains ASC will be interceptions against CP. Those fumbles that MSU was quick enough and strong enough to recover against ASC will most likely go to CP. There's just too much stuff to improve upon to give me any comfort level at all.
On the positive side-the weather won't be as nice (MSU hasn't played well at home in nice weather for some reason), and Cal Poly's offense isn't exactly world beaters either from the sounds of things.
The other positive-Kramer's teams usually perform better when they're the underdog.
It's not impossible for the Cats to win this one, but I think a Cat win would be a bit of an upset.

In order to win this game, we have to be effective running the ball. That will be the key to this game. The receivers will not drop as many (at least they shouldn't). I agree it seemed like they were more worried about RAC yards than catching the ball first. Lulay needs to lead them more in stride as well and that will help the RAC yards w/o even thinking about it.BelgradeBobcat wrote:Not trying to be too negative here, but based on recent results and past history of this rivalry, I'd say Cal Poly is a 2 touchdown favorite.

I think its gonna be a good game. Lulay will be turned loose to run this game and our offense will be wide open I'm betting now that they have a look at what guys produced in first game. I also look for one RB to get more carries in the game this game (Milton should be the starter in this game in my opinion). Our defense needs to rock their world and create some TO's. They forced quite a few TO's last year against Cal Poly I do believe.
The more I talk about this game, the more I get hyped up! Only 5 more days ugh

The Cats always seem to play down to their opponents and play much better against good teams. I also think the Cats have something to prove after a less-than-stellar performance last weekend. Plus, I don't think ISU is all that.
I'll take the Cats in this one by a touchdown.

IMHO, Domnick will be the go to man as far RB's this season. It seems like evryone else is all hyped over Milton but I just do not see it. Mark my words it will be Domick that will shine for the cats this year. As far as last saturdays game I think Kramer was just playing everyone he could and not concerned about the score. However I am in agreement with several others on the posts that Lulay did not have a very good game, in fact it was almost horrible. The WR's need to put in the second effort and try to catch the ball, Lulay thru a cople of nice passes in trafic that should have been caught. Secondly Gatewood needs to turn the jets on, he had a couple of catchable balls that would have been great gains if he would not have given up. Cal Poly will tell us what the season is going to be like, should be a fun game. If the Cats are not ready to paly the instant they walk on the field its going to be a very long and ugly day. Cal Poly by 6.

You guys will get mad but I'm going to say it anyway.
Both RBs perrty much did what they did in JUCO and the cats need more than that. Sorry. It's early and you'll know more in a week. If Cal Poly shuts them down; cats in trouble.
Of topic good or bad. Looks like CSU will be 0-3. Either mad as hell or beaten up and defeated?
My Cal Poly prediction first one to 14 wins.

Yeah, this is the game. If my buddy from Billings comes over, I should be there. I'll let you guys know at the end of the week. I think he can get us tickets being an avid Cat fan. Thanks for the invite!!CARDIAC_CATS wrote:CTOWM - Is this the game you were gonna be coming to you said? If so, let me know ... your more than welcome to pop on over and have some beers with us. Cal Poly runs the option, and runs what they call a Double Eagle Flex Defense sort of like NAU but uses more blitzes and odd alignments. They come from everywhere on any play. We need to really be ready to hit "hot" receivers when they bring the house.gfallscat wrote:does cal poly run a so called "normal" offense and defense?

I'll be there, but not pulling the trailer this time, and probably bringing my boys, so might cut into the tailgating a bit. Will probably hang out mainly around the Great Falls Booster Club trailer!Cat-theotherwhitemeat wrote:Yeah, this is the game. If my buddy from Billings comes over, I should be there. Exactly, Lulay needs to line up the offense early and read the alignment and 'guess' right on a few plays and we 'should' have some big plays on Saturday. The middle of the field should be open, also .. I think we'll see some more roll outs as well that could nullify blitzes coming in from either side and give Lulay some time to throw the ball down the middle of the field which should be open. The receivers in the slot need to watch the LB's and if they blitz pop into that open spot (Flex offense on Flex defenseHelcat72 wrote:Cal Poly runs the option, and runs what they call a Double Eagle Flex Defense sort of like NAU but uses more blitzes and odd alignments. Kramer was in Billings today, and typical Kramer he is very upbeat about the team. He knows we have a great running game and was concerned about the passing game this last weekend, as he should have been. He also said that last weekends film shows a lot of the offensive people out of position and with the aid of film he can teach th O what they need to correct and it will be worked on all this week in practice. I feel we will see a differant team on the field this weekend. He also wanted Lulay to stay in the pocket to build confidence in the line. Cal Poly 14 Cats 20.

While there were flashes, I actually thought the running game would have been much better. And did you mean he told Lulay to stay in the pocket against Adams State? I thought that may have been the case. Lastly, what else did Kramer have to say? Is Smith going to be healthy and if so, will he be returning kicks?Robcat wrote:Kramer was in Billings today, and typical Kramer he is very upbeat about the team. As much as I love Lulay improvising with Bailey #@@$% offense, I think he needs to stay in the pocket a bit more as well. With the rollouts, I dont think the O-line is capable of blocking for that properly yet. If Travis stayed in the pocket more, the O-line would know where he was all the time and could concentrate on keeping people off his back.Robcat wrote:Kramer was in Billings today, and typical Kramer he is very upbeat about the team. One another note. CP 14 - MSU 20 -- does that mean we will miss another PAT to go with our 3 TDs? If so, I agree. If it means we make 2 FGs to go with 2 TDs, I have a problem with that. I hope Bolton gets his shots this weekend. Doroski booms the kickoffs, but absolutely CANNOT kick FGs. A missed PAT...That is completely unacceptable.
