Hey, Bobcats. I am a Sooner fan, and I heard that you have oklahoma state on your schedule sometime in the near future. I couldnt verify it anywhere else, so I was just wondering if you guys knew anything about it. Thanks in advance, and GO BOBCATS! (ESPECIALLY if youre playing osu!)

WE have them the first game next year I believe it's September 3rd. I'm looking forward to attending a big 12 game. I've been a Sooner fan ever since the early 70's. My favorite College team other than the Bobcats! We'll try and see if we can give the Cowboys some fits!

We'll crush Oklahoma State next year easily. Mark my words. That is, if their team comes down with some mysterious illness that doesn't allow them to field 11 players...

...Maybe this is where some Sooner fans can step in and make some things happen.

OUSOONER guy. Please don't run off to your own board and smack OSU for scheduling a 1AA game against some guys from the hills of Montana. At least not until you see how we do next week against Colorado State. Thanks for your consideration.

no no no

No, I wasnt gonna use this as smack at all, I know there's good football in all the divisions and conferences. Its just that my sister in law is a huge osu fan, and what makes it worse is that shes really nice...so I kinda follow osu a little bit, mostly so my brother can have something to talk about when they watch college football. I'll root for them in basketball and against texas teams and bowl games now, but any other games...its on! Anyways, y'all seem like a cool group, and thanks for the help. May just hang around for a while, if its ok.

GO BOBCATS!

I assume OSU is the cow college/engineering school in that state, as MSU is in Montana, thus I'm sympathic to the Cowboys. It's going to be fun playing them (for us fans that is, not so sure about our players).

I see OSU doing pretty fabulous renovations to their stadium-should be an awesome place for our guys to perform.

OUSooner, welcome and please feel free to hang out. Just in case you wanted something a bit more official than message board chatter, here is a newspaper article that confirms the MSU-OSU matchup for next season.

Thanks for the article, I just sent it to my sister in law. They are making their stadium look pretty nice. I've never actually been inside, but from picures I've seen and from on tv it looks like a good place to watch a game. (of course, not as nice as Oklahoma Memorial Stadium  ) Actually theres a funny story about their renovation. When they were putting bricks around the outside to spiff it up, they were using two different colored bricks and one of the brick layers spelled out OU with the dark red bricks. Best part is they were finished when they noticed, so all they could do is paint over the brick...bad news is he lost his job. Still funny though.

OUSOONER...I hope the Sooners have corrected whatever was wrong last year against Kansas St and LSU. It looked to me like they kind of got away from the running game after Griffin graduated. I think Jason White will have a great year, but may not get the Heisman again due to those last two games last year.

yeah

I think you know exactly what our problem was. I hope the addition of Peterson will go miles to help the offense. But I need some more help from you guys...I came over to find out if you were playing osu, but decided to stay because y'all were really friendly, so what should I know about Montana State? Are you guys a top team in your conference/division, what handsigns do you use, who is your archrival, just general stuff I should know about your program. Just interested in your football team, thanks for any help or useful information!

We won our conference's automatic playoff bid the last two years by beating our arch rival the University of Montana Grizzlies. Both years we had a three way tie for the championship, but we had the tiebreaker both times. Most Bobcat fans have two favorite teams...the Bobcats and whomever is playing the Grizzlies! They are currently ranked #1...we are 14th. Before 2001 the Grizzlies had beaten us 16 years straight! That builds up a lot of hate!

Actually they are an established program kind of like OU...and we are the poor little sister that's starting to make noise every once in a while like OSU. We don't have a hand sign...(not that sophisticated yet!) Our colors are Navy and Gold. Our road uniforms are white with the same kind of trim as the Denver Broncos. Home are navy both pants and jerseys with the same kind of trim. Helmets are like U of Washington but with an "M" instead of "W". OUr confrerence is the Big Sky including U of Montana, Eastern Washington, Idaho State, Portland State, Weber State, Northern Arizona, and Sacramento State.

Helcat72: Wow that was fair and honest reporting. I'm glad I kept my big mouth shut and didn't start a flame war.

You forgot one thing. MSU has won 1 Div 2 championship, one Div 1-AA championship and one (I don't know what to put it was in 1956) championship

The Griz of U of M have won 2 Div 1-AA championships 85 and 01.

Cats 11 Big Sky titles Griz 13 or 12 Big Sky titles.

Oh yah MSU suc&s ass. :D

here goes

Ok, well we dont really have a hand sign either, we just took the texas sign and turned it upside down. And second, you guys dont seem near as bad as osu. Some of thier fans say they have just as much tradition as OU, of course withouth the 7 national titles and 4 heisman winners, except theyve only beaten us 16 times ever in football. If I was a betting man, I'd say your guys series with Montana is more competitive than that.

Ouch...You just made a bunch of Cats fans cringe.

Somebody else will have to give him the series record. I ain't doing it. I'm still trying to upgrade my warm Oly.

You're skating on thin ice brother. Watch it... :D

I think it's like 60 something to 30 something and I think 1 tie.

hey hey

Now see, if it is 60-30, at least you still have twice as many wins as osu does! Would ya rather have 30 or 16?

by Helcat72
30 ...and they were QUALITY wins!

Our only hand sign is usually confined to use regarding the Grizzlies!

Is OSU OU's biggest rival? Texas or Nebraska might be bigger games for OU me thinks?

Regarding Montana State vs. Montana, many, many years ago the two schools were not playing at the same level of football. Montana was in what is now the Pac-10, and MSU played more of an NAIA level (I don't think things were as well defined back then). So the rivalry was pretty lopsided-although Montana didn't win many other games in those years from what I understand. The more recent Montana win streak is more painful to talk about. Let's hope we've righted that serious wrong once and or all. Honestly, MSU winning the last two years has been the best thing to happen to the rivalry-griz fans may not want to admit that, but it's true.

Just another tid-bit. MSU played OU in men's basketball two years in a row-probably 4 or 5 years ago, once was in Alaska I believe. Of course OU won, but as I recall, both games were fairly competitive.

Kelvin Sampson started his headcoaching career at Montana Tech, an NAIA school just down the road from here in Butte.
