More 1-A games in the next two years

Post by Helcat72 » Tue Sep 28, 2004 8:11 pm

I heard from some of the school officials in Fort Collins that we signed to play Kansas State and Minnesota in 2005 and 2006 (not sure which one when). That means we are playing two 1-A games each year! If we can survive them, we should put quite a dent in the deficit!

There is something else that should be mentioned

Look at the exposure MSU will receive from playing at those schools. That will lead to better recruits in the future.

I know it doesn't do a lot for our W/L record but I am also in favor of playing up at least once if not twice a year. The players love it, the experience is great for them and the fans, the recruiting benefits are huge, and the money is reason enough.

Kramer speaks about the benefits of 1-A games

Post by BelgradeBobcat » Wed Sep 29, 2004 4:45 pm

Kramer's comments at msubobcats.com

No mention in the above article about K-State or Minnesota, but interesting none-the-less. If they got 2 more $250K paydays that'd be a nice cool $million in 2 seasons.

The thing we've got to watch out for is often the 1-A's will drop the 1-AA if a big TV date comes along. I'm sure there's a buyout clause in the contracts, but we wouldn't may $250K.

If they do schedule another body bag game for next season that would only leave us with 5 home games. What's better? Playing Adams State at home or playing another Big 12 or Big 10 team on the road? Be careful what you wish for-see Idaho's schedule.
