CONGRATS to the volleyball team!

Post by BozoneCat » Sun Oct 03, 2004 4:55 pm

Great sweep this weekend, ladies! Two 3-0 blowouts, including a sweep of Sac State, who always is very, very tough.

*Didn't want Kamber to think we forgot about her!!!*

Agreed, great job VB! Too bad UM has Homecoming next week too so they couldn't have scheduled the home Cat/Griz match this weekend.

The Cats were dominant, this week-end, as I've never seen. To sweep, rather easily, what is traditionally the best program in the Big Sky was amazing. If only we could beat Eastern that way. Kamber has finally become a good setter, as well as a good all around player. What sets this team apart from past good Bobcat teams is the defense, led by Kandice Kelly. She is going to help the Cats to another level. Our blockers, Wiebe (much cuter than Kamber) and Zanto, are outstanding. The hitters, collectively, are coming around. They're not the best hitters we've had, but improving. Malyurek also plays great defense. Stonehouse should develop to be one of our best ever hitters.

The Cats look to be a contender in the conference, right now, along with ISU and Eastern, but maybe CSUS as well. WSU and the friz will duke it out for the cellar. It 's going to be a fun season. I'd love to end it with the Big Sky tournament at home.

I think that's the first time I've seen the home team win a volleyball match in a long time. (Oregon and Missoula aren't exactly powers) Wish the crowd was a bit louder, but it was cool to go.

The crowds this weekend were a little less rowdy than usual, partly because the Cats were so dominant which drained some of the drama.
