HOW MANY TIMES IN THIS GAME DID BEAL ALMOST LOSE IT FOR US.
I CAN REMEMBER 2-3 FUMBLES AND ABOUT 3 PENALTIES. THIS COULD BE A LONG WEEK, AND YEAR FOR THAT KID.

I like Jimmy. He has done some good things for the Cats but is one of the guys who never gets any positive reinforcement. I guarantee there is nobody who feels worse about that fumble than he does. The block in the back penalty was just plain stupid, but I think that the kid needs some encouragement. He is fast and has made some great plays. if he got the kudos and extra support that some of the other players do, he'd be amazing.
And not that you mentioned this, and it is unrelated, but Eddie Sullivan deserves a little glory too. THat kid always gives 110% and is always UP. The holding call that brought back Domineck's touchdown was BOGUS!!!
I think the difference in psyche is that Domineck and Gwinn and some of those are IN with the coaching staff. They have to REALLY screw up bad to get any negatives. But guys like Jimmy and Eddie must play every down half afraid of the wrath and that would be tough.

Couldn't agree more about Sullivan. He has only gotten significant playing time from injuries and has been effective. He catches the ball and runs hard after the catch. He also is very involved as a blocker. The holding call you mentioned was right in front of me and was definately not there. He has become our position type receiver which fits well with the speed and downfield abilities of Guinn and Gatewood.
BTW, did Gatewood look a lot better Saturday or was it just me? That catch he made for a first down was a good catch and the one he made over the middle that was called back on holding where he took the big hit was impressive. Guinn was pretty quiet but if Travis would have thrown it about 5 yards less, that deep route in the fourth quarter would have been big. Overall, I am starting to have more confidence in our receivers game after game.

Yeah, I do think the receivers are looking better. Gatewood could really be a great player. I would have liked to see Chaz lay out for that ball. It was over-thrown but he seemed to see it over his head and not make that big push to catch up to it. He might have surprised himself if he had gutted it out.
Overall though, I think our recievers are starting to catch up to the hype.

That is exactly what I was wondering when I read that. This guy absolutely KILLED us this last game! I am completely at a loss as to why Kramer keeps putting this guy on the field. That fumble baffled me - why, after driving all the way down the field with great runs by Domineck does he get pulled when we are a yard away from scoring, to give it to Beal? He seems like a really great kid, and I know he tries hard, but I have just never seen anything that would make me think he belongs anywhere near the football. Sure, he's fast... well, so are a lot of other kids. I think Jimmy has gotten enough opportunities the last couple of years, and he has yet to show he belongs. Maybe he would be better suited back at corner, that is a position we need help and where he could really use his speed as an advantage.
Mike Williams was another guy that just killed us this last game. I don't really like having to use Force as a kick returner, because it takes away the threat of taking one back all the way, but if no one else can even catch the ball, that is what we are going to have to do for the rest of the season.

If I remember right , I saw Domineck ask to come out for that play. at least I think that was the play. I was standing down in the end zone grassy knoll. I could be wrong, it has happened once or twice!!

On why by Domineck gets pulled when we are a yard away from scoring, after driving all the way down the field with great runs.
The simple answer was this was the same drive that Domineck ran the 50 yards for a touchdown that was called back (huge amount of energy used on that one). This was after already a couple of first downs. Then they drove the ball another 46 on running and passing plays where Dom was in most of the plays. All in the same series. He was dead and needed a blow. Blea run right for 4 yards on first down and fumbled on the 5.
Domineck needed a break. It was just tough luck.

It's good to hear that Gatewood looked better. The radio didn't do that justice. Really, the only thing I can remember about Gatewood via the radio was one that he dropped that would have been a TD according to Atterbury and Davies. Oh, and the minus yards on a reverse or something.
Oh, and then the big one - the radio guys initially called that Gatewood was going to return the last Weber punt, and they were just TOTALLY SHOCKED - and then at the last second, Force came in and the radio guys were really happy.
Did anyone notice the Cats rolled up 400 yards in total offense? When's the last time they did that? Hopefully it's a sign of things to come.

Gatewood made a HUGE catch in the 3rd or 4th Q on 3rd down and long. Throw was behind him and short and he made a huge adjustment. That catch was HUGE!!!!
