4000+ fans...wow! Only 500 for the game in Missoula if my memory serves me correctly. Nice job!

It was a great match and a great crowd. Seemed to be more there than there was for a few of the BBall games last year. The Ladies took care of business and really looked like a completely different class of team compared to the griz. Congrats!

For some reason the coaching staff of university of Montana volleyball team was wearing shorts and t-shirt. Tell me what's up with that? Yeah! The Cat's did turn the heat up! By beating them in three!

As someone who goes to all of the Cats' home games, they played sub-par ball against the friz until they got behind in the 3rd game. Then they got untracked and played well. It was a good warm up for a much tougher week-end to come. It's too bad so many people only see the friz match, because the Cats and their opponents are much better, other week-ends. The Cats will not host this season, again, but they deserve a huge amount of credit for winning every home conference game so far. That's 15-0!! Eastern will change that, most likely. Come out this weekend for some really good volleyball as the Cats fight to stay in contention for a championship. See the Sunday Chronicle for a nice column by the Sports Editor on the great MSU volleyball program; it's not in the on-line edition, unfortunately.

MSU spikers sweep UM

For the second time this season the University of Montana volleyball team was swept by its rival.

The Montana State Bobcats beat the Grizzlies 30-24, 30-25, 30-18 in a Big Sky Conference match in front of 4,159 fans at Bozeman's Worthington Arena.




Montana State improved to 8-4 in league play and 16-7 overall. The Bobcats are a half game behind Sacramento State for second place in the Big Sky.

Junior middle blocker Megan Zanto had 15 kills, six blocks and three service aces to lead MSU, which swept UM in Missoula back on Oct. 8.

The Bobcats had five more blocks and 12 fewer hitting errors than the Grizzlies.

Also for MSU, senior setter Kamber Kelly had 36 assists and 11 digs and sophomore Kim Stonehouse had 12 kills.

Montana (3-9, 6-16) was led by freshman Micaela Parker, who had 13 kills and seven digs. Freshman libero Jackie White dug a match-high 25 balls and served two aces.

UM's Claudia Houle was held to a season-low six kills, but had 15 digs. It was just the fourth time this year that Houle failed to post double-digit kills.

The Griz still trail Northern Arizona (3-8, 6-16) for sixth place in the conference. Only the top six teams qualify for the postseason tournament.
