Garcia Named Big Sky Player of the Week

Nubia Garcia was named co Big Sky Conference Player of the Week, after dominating the glass in Montana State’s road sweep, last weekend.
The Bobcats climbed from seventh place in the league standings to third this week after going 2-0 on the road. Garcia notched back-to-back double-doubles as Montana State knocked off Idaho State 81-72 on Thursday and Weber State 79-56 on Saturday.
Garcia, a 6-2 forward, averaged 14.5 points and 14.5 rebounds in the two wins. She shot 52.4 percent from the field and went 7-of-10 at the foul line. Garcia chipped in 2.5 steals, 2.0 blocks and 1.5 assists as well.
The senior recorded 14 points and grabbed 12 boards against the Bengals. She turned around on Saturday and posted 15 points and an incredible 17 total rebounds. She had seven offensive and 10 defensive rebounds in the victory over the Wildcats.
Garcia, a native of Chihuahua, Mexico, leads the Big Sky in rebounds per game this season with 8.8.
