there is no back and forth at all. you are saying something to be true that isn't probably based on things that you have heard. however, if you were to talk to huse, or anyone else on our staff they would confirm that grades aren't what kept him from other schools. pm mslacat. i'm guessing he knows exactly what i'm talking about.TrueCat wrote:Ok, we can go back and forth on "inside information" sources...they were an issue for him to attend MSU.

I believe mslacat has posted that MSU was worried about how credits would transfer, and that grades weren't an issue.TrueCat wrote:Ok, we can go back and forth on "inside information" sources...they were an issue for him to attend MSU.

Thanks to wbtfg and WTG for trying to reign in the-ironically-named-"True"cat, who apparently has some issues with that very thing.
AJ was on the Dean's list all 4 semesters at YVCC. He's been on the Dean's list every semester at UM. To suggest that grades kept him out of ANY school -- say nothing about other BSC schools-- is patently incorrect. Montana, along with MSU, has the highest academic entrance standards in the BSC. It's time to man-up and just admit you're either (1) wrong, or (2) trying to post really bad smack on the regular board, "True"cat. Either way, just do us all a favor and either man-up or move on.

I am not talking about Johnson in particular, but for truecat to suggest that anyone could not get into EWU for grades is pretty funny. Not a knock on EWU, because they have had great success with kids with checkered academic pasts and do not shy away from kids like other schools due. Why do you think Stuckey ended up there...plain and simple, no one wanted him because of academics but EWU has a great program in place for taking these types of kids.

LOL...you guys are too much. Telling me to man up? I mean seriously, that is sad. I know my sources and I trust what they have to say...so do not think you have the right to discredit them. I was fine with us "agreeing to disagree" but since you want to call me out and my sources, I will take acception to that. Just because someone does not agree with you does not make them wrong...seems to me that you are the one who needs to "man up"...or grow up. Either one will serve you well.

I'm in no way discrediting your sources. I'm simply saying they are wrong. And they are. It's not an "opinion issue", so if I have the facts (and I do) and I disagree with your sources (and I do), then I'm free to say they're wrong (and I will).
Believe it. Don't believe it. I don't care either way. You're not worth effort. Everyone else knows the score.

No help? Are you serious? Yes it was an epic performance by AJ, the best in BSC tourney history, but he didn't single-handedly shut down weber defensively in the second half. It took an entire team and good coaching to accomplish that, without which, the Grizzly win and NCAA tourney game or games would not be happening. Also, Derek Selvig had a good game (all tourney team) and BQ had 14 rebounds and 6 blocked shots. No help, indeed.
Your sour grapes are smelling quite bad about now.
And for your info, had the roles been reversed and it was the cats playing weber for the BSC crown, I would have been cheering for msu loudly.

Thank you to all who have served and are serving this country in the military, law enforcement and or as emergency responders! God bless you and your loved ones! John 15:13

Nobody cares if you would have been cheering for the Cats, honestly, nobody. None the less that was one helluva a performance. 42 points??? I just had to shake my head, well done.Gallatin Griz wrote:wasacatfan wrote, "Great comeback by Anthony Johnson to bad he didnt have any help"

Re: BSC Tourney predictions
Just thought I'd post this link to this article from a couple years ago which mentions his grades at YVCC. It's a great article tooTrueCat wrote:and yes, grades were his issue...

http://www.tacomaweekly.com/article/1731" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
From the article:
"Even with all of the newfound success that Johnson has had on the basketball court, there is one thing that he is even more proud of that has nothing to do with lay-ups or 3-pointers. After putting up a 1.6 in high school, Johnson’s grade-point average at YVCC is 3.2."
So he didn't have very good grades in HS, but had very good grades at YVCC. So grades really wouldn't have been an issue with his recruiting with him coming out of JC.

Re: BSC Tourney predictions
I dunno about that. A 1.6 HS GPA converted into 3.2 at a CC isn't exactly sterling. I see no problem with it, but if we really are being strict about grades, and we would have to be pretty darn strict to not take a guy with a 3.2 out of a CC, then I guess I could understand.
