Lady Cats / PSU on Altitude @ 3

Post by CelticCat » Sat Mar 13, 2010 10:55 am

We split the season series 1-1, losing the first one amongst a pretty tough slide for the Lady Cats, but beat them during our 9-2 current streak.

Should be a good game, go Cats!!

The game also should be available online at BigSkyTV.org. Free service, all you have to do is sign up.

Too many turnovers. Fortunately PSU isn't hitting shots. 29-24 PSU at the half.

Will MSU (men or women) ever win a BSC title game? Doesn't seem likely at this point. Too many turnovers, but a great effort.

WAY too many turnovers. I know it was over 20, maybe 23? It just looks like they play out of control most of the time, especially considering they average 17 turnovers a game. After watching that game, I guess I'm not a big fan of Binford's uptempo offense. Both teams were tired, you could tell, but taking care of the basketball is a matter of making good decisions, not fatigue. I know for a fact that PSU had at least 18 points off those turnovers, so that was the reason MSU lost.

It's been 17 years (1993) for the women. The men won the reg. season in 2002, but have gone 14 years (1996) w/o an NCAA tourney appearance.

That was one depressing game to watch from start to finish. Seems like there was hardly any time in the game where you felt good. If it wasn't turnovers it was Claire Faucher nailing a three everytime MSU got close.

Good team coming back though. Big loss in Perry, but four starters return and three reserves that played a lot of minutes.

I don't mind the up-tempo game, actually prefer it, but you have to be able to create layups and open shots to make up for the turnovers that are part of that kind of game. Seemed like MSU was taking a lot of erratic shots. Maybe they had the jitters. ??? Just seemed like such a winnable game, so very frustrating to watch and depressing at the end.

You nailed it on the TOs being the reason they lost.

The Cats had 19 turnovers. It was probably the key stat to the game and not having Lindsey in there hurt tonight. Tough loss. Erica Perry and Jaime Thorton established what this program is all about under Coach Binford.

This was the second title game for the Lady Cats in the last three years. I don't see anything wrong with the motion offense that has been installed, because it allows the Cats to play uptempo, it generates a lot of offense and Coach Binford is very good at recruiting for that style of play. With PSU, Sac State and Northern Arizona all showing the ability to score a bunch of offense in a hurry better have something to generate points. Besides it is an exciting style of play to watch.

The women's program is in good hands. Coach Binford has done an excellent job even with all the "restrictions" on recruiting.

They just need to learn to shoot the ball when they get inside instead of just thowing it up. They shot the ball yesterday and Thursday.....maybe fatigue made them get careless!

I didn't watch the game, but PSU is a very adept team at creating turnovers.

Tough loss for the cats, but this is pretty much what everyone expected at the beginning of the year: PSU winning it. I don't think there's any doubt they had the most talent in the league. They just had to play to it. Congratulations (and good riddance!!! :P ) to Claire Faucher, absolutely one of the ten best ever to step foot on a BSC court.

Going to be a tough haul for PSU now, though. I suspect they'll get Stanford, but any NCAA tournament experience is great, even if you lose by 39.

I echo what's already been said. The MSU women are a fun, dynamic team-but they can be really hard to watch sometimes with the careless (at times) turnovers. I thought coach was over-coaching there. A timeout with ten on the shot clock-when we had the over and back. Then another timeout with 13 second after the steal...to setup a Perry shot that was blocked. Sometimes it's better to go with the flow-especially with this team.

MSU's team's (football and men's and women's basketball) all had good seasons in 2009-10 but came up just short. We have good players-but we don't have that player than can go off when it mattered most like montana's men's team and PSU's women's team. It's been heartbreaking sports seasons in this school year.

Heck...even the men's indoor track team. They got second in the Big Sky meet.

Arrrrrrrrrrrggggggggggghhhhhhhhh!

All of the PSU players were hoping that EWU beat MSU because they thought MSU was a better team. Perry will be hard to replace but MSU returns a lot of talent. I remember watching MSU when they led PSU something like 41-20 in the game in Portland. They played almost error free ball.

So get your heads out of the sand...The lady Bobcats are for real. Both they and PSU lost some games they should have won but excelled when it really counted.
