So, I'm in Salt Lake this weekend watching the NCAA tournament, and got to wondering…….
Butler, a school of 4,200 traveled amazingly. It appeared as though they where able to use their entire allotment of tickets from the NCAA, their entire section was full of fans.
I have gone to past opening round tournaments where the griz, also had a huge fan base filling their entire section. However, last year Portland State only had to go to Boise, and could even fill half their section.
Was anyone at the MSU's 1996 tournament appearance? Just curious how we traveled in our last appearance. Curious what it would be like if we where to make it again?

Interesting, and good question.
However, I'm sure the Big Sky would travel a hell of a lot better if they were a 5 seed rather than the 13-15 which we typically get.

Re: 1996 tournament appearance
I was there - I would say we had 100 or so fans. We definitely had more fans there than our opponent Syracuse, which isn't too surprising given the distance from upstate NY to New Mexico. I think the number of fans we would get at another appearance would depend heavily on location. Put us in an location close to MT like Boise or Spokane, or another west coast area with a fairly heavy concentration of alumni and we could get plenty of people there.
