Re: Salley
I believe that is correct. It's my understanding that he is now at a JC in California, and his scholarship was awarded to the kid from Minnesota.DicTater wrote:So, what happened to Jordan Salley? He's not on the roster and I don't recall seeing anything about him after he signed. Anyone know? Did he not academically qualify or what?

Re: Salley
I don't know. When he left he said he would be back. When he left the coaches said he would be back. I have not seen anything to indicate that he did not like his time in Bozeman just the opposite everybody seem to like Salley. He is the type of kid who came to campus out of basketball shape due to the lay off and dropped 10 pounds, and worked his but off,. He maybe complained, but always said this is making me better. Still schtuff happens, maybe he gets a girl friend over the next two years and wants to stay in Northern California, or maybe he gets home sick and wants to play closer to LA. A lot can change, I do know that he is still in contact with a lot of new friends in Bozeman.longhorn_22 wrote:What would you, mslacat, say the odds of him returning to MSU are now?
Last year Griz freshman Thurmond Woods was in the same situation as Salley is, and the Griz talked about signing him back. The Griz will not be signing him this November (the early period). I don't know why.
I don't mean to be a wet blanket, but I am getting to be of that age where I am a realist. If the coaches could sign him this November for 2012-13 they would.

Yeah, I understand. I've learned to expect disappointment a lot being here.
Why wouldn't he be eligible to come back for the 2011-2012 season?

Re: Salley
1 If you are an NCAA "non-qualifier" you must get your associate degree from a junior college to become D-1 eligible. It take two years to get an associate degree.longhorn_22 wrote:Yeah, I understand. I've learned to expect disappointment a lot being here.![]()

2 If redshirt a year (athletically) you can become eligible with 3 years of eligibility at D-1, but you still end up having to spend two years at the JC academically any way.
3 If you are an NCAA "qualifier" out of high school and go the JC route for what ever reason you can leave after 1 year if you are offered an opportunity at the D-1 level and have three years of eligibility.

Thanks for that info on qualifiers/NQs, BAC. I'm sure I knew that at some point but I had forgotten it.
