I have been asked a couple times to updates folks on the status of the Bobcat's fall recruits/signees, as well as who they are recruiting for the fall so I thought I would post a little info.
First this is not a thread to discuss the past season but to discuss recruiting.
First I have been posting updates all fall winter long on my twitter site here.

The Bobcats signed two player last fall Jamie Stewart of Henry Ford JC in Michigan and Mohammad Fall of Cloud County JC in Kansas.
Jamie Stewart 6-4 shooting guard/small forward
Henry Ford Junior College
18 points, 8 rebounds, 3 assists, 2 steals, 1 block,
51% field goal, 41% 3pt field goal, 76% free-throw
HFCC finished the regular season 21-9 (4 losses were forfeits due to ineligible players)
Player Season Notes: Henry Ford JC featured a top a group of athletic players all between from 6-0 to 6-5 so Stewart played both inside and out. When a couple players were ruled ineligible he was asked to more than just score. He over all scoring dropped a little but his rebounding and defense got better.
Player's Game: Stewart reputation is that of a scorer more than a pure shooter. The knock on him has been his three point shooting, adequate but not quite a pure shooter. He started out the season shooting only 20% from three point range for the first month and half, but after that his three point shooting improved remarkably ending the season at 41%. He is a cross between Will Bynum (skill set) and Carlos Taylor (aggressive offence) but far more athletic than either.
Key Stat for success: How quickly does he pick up Huse's system. Over Huse's tenure at MSU the key stat for success has been how quickly guards pick up the system (both defense and offence). I also would like to see how Huse adjust his system to take advantage of Stewart's athleticism on offence.
Recruiting notes: I heard from a very reliable source that Notre Dame and two other D-1 (who I can not remember right now) schools approached Stewart's coaches in December and January inquiring about his availability. Unfortunately for them he signed in November.
Mohammed Fall 6-9 power forward/center
Cloud County Community College
Stats pre-injury
12 points, 10 rebounds, 1 assists, 4 blocks
57% field goal, 72% free throw
Season Stats
9 points, 10 rebounds, 1 assists, 3 blocks
57% field goal, 74% free throw
CCCC finished the regular season 19-11
Player Season Notes: Fall injured his knee in late December and at the time I was told it was a major blow out, but he came back in February and played for Cloud CC. I do not know what the story is. At first it was limited minutes which hurt his stats but he seems to be now playing pretty much back to form.
Player's Game: Fall has been compared favorable to former Bobcat great Divaldo Mbumga and it is not a bad comparison on a lot of levels. Both are from Africa, athletic and have only been playing the game a handful of years. Fall's offensive game seems to be somewhat behind Mbunga at the same stage, but Fall is a far more physical player and a better rebounder. All of this though is to compare by stats, Mbunga played JC ball in league that is the weakest in the country and produces 4-5 D-1 athletes (with 32 teams) a year while Fall plays for the #1 conference country, where it is not uncommon for a single team to produce 5-6 D-1 prospects. Fall is the most physical player Huse has signed.
Key Stat for success: The #1 stat that separates Fall from a 16 point 15 rebound 4 block game from a 5 point 7 rebounds 1 block game, is fouls. If you look down the stat sheet at his good games, he will have 3 or less fouls with lots of minutes played. His bad, 4-5 fouls and little minutes. When he is on the floor he always does good things.
I will have more on who the coaches might be looking at later.

Any news on the 2 kids that Huse sent to Sheridan? Would they be guys for 2011, or not until 2012?

More athletic than Bynum and Taylor? Wow.
Don't let this distract you from the fact that the griz blew a 22-0 lead.

I understand that there is a real good forward from BYU that will be looking to transfer. He and his girlfriend can have all the sex they want here and nobody will care. http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2011/03/0 ... 30646.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
