wbb msu vs. sac state

A heartbreaker. I'm very disappointed, but I was there and our girls played their rear ends off. It's just hard to be mad at them.

You have to give Sac State credit. They won the game by playing lights out D the entire game. I rarely EVER saw any space between our girls and them. They, on the other hand, did get some space. #22 made us pay all night long with long treys. Similar to the way we lost to the Griz.

I've always said that teams that play man to man are tough, aggressive teams. Teams that play zone are lazy and just don't really like to play D. Tonight's game reaffirmed that.

Well, go figure. The Lady Griz beat this same team on Thur. nite by 35 points. But then, the Lady Griz turn around and lose to UNC which we swept this year.

All I know is, this is one great group of girls that play hard. We lose only Katie and we've got some new kids coming in next year.

I hope the Ladies finish strong.

I look forward to the road and the tournament and especially to next year. I feel like the women's program is in good shape. My main suggestion, have the girls really hit the weight room in the off season to get stronger, and better your conditioning so you can play more aggressive D.

I'm afraid I've pretty much given up on the guys. Frankly, I'm looking for a big turnaround season next year. If that doesn't happen, then I'm ready for a change.

Go Cats

The players gave it their all, but I'm a little upset about the coaching. Given that Sac took the ball under their own basket, it would take 5-6 seconds just to get the ball up the court to take a shot. The Cats' strategy was "just hope this girl who's been making shots all day misses." Why not bring three of the girls up and press, try to force Sac to waste all their time fiddling around in the backcourt? The worst thing that could happen is they throw it down the court and make a shot, or the Cats foul and Sac makes their shots, but at least then the Cats get the ball back with another chance to win it.

The Cats would have had a better chance to win the game with a press. ](*,) They might even have been better off intentionally fouling.

"What's our job? Gettin the offense the ball! How we gonna do it? By any means necessary!"

Don't let this distract you from the fact that the griz blew a 22-0 lead.
