Re: Danny Sprinkle..............
No way he leaves Cali unless he gets a HUGE offer here.
Don't let this distract you from the fact that the griz blew a 22-0 lead.

Re: Danny Sprinkle..............
Danny Sprinkle is NOT the answer. He is the one that bailed on Huse after two seasons when Huse gave him the #1 assistant job over all other potential more experienced candidates. Why did Huse take a chance on him then loyalty something Sprinkle knows nothing about. As a recruiter his "big man" was going to be Cam Henderson how is that for talent evaluation? I have not always agreed with all of you on here but something needs to happen. I do not know what that is but I think Peter Fields needs to be held accountable as well for the decline in the Men's Program as well he is ultimately the decision maker in this case isn't he?

i'm bias here because sprinks is my guy....but i'm not sure you understand all of the details regarding his departure here. knowing what we know now....i think many would agree it was a very smart move for him to go back to cali to a program that gave him his first shot....as well as a much bigger paycheck. what coach doesn't leave for more money? especially young coaches trying to make a name for themselves?4everacatfan wrote:Danny Sprinkle is NOT the answer. trust me, i wanted dan to remain here as much as anybody. but the life of a college coach is cut-throat. you jump on opportunities because you don't know when they'll be gone. had he stayed here...he might have been gone already or in a year or so anyway. and with how terrible northridge is....who knows? he might be moving anyway. i just can't blame the guy for leaving, and he really had no reason to stay in my opinion.
as for him coming back here, i think he would if the money was right. he would certainly bring excitement to the program on his playing resume alone. can't say i'm sure he's ready to be a head guy yet though. he certainly knows the game very well....but i think some more years under his belt as an assistant would be wise.

Dear god no!
It's time for the next head coach at MSU to NOT have any MSU ties! This program is a mess and needs a whole new direction.

you really think that it's msu ties that has been hindering our coaches? a coach is either good or he's not. don't see how huse having ties to msu is the reason he has struggled here. maybe i'm missing something?

Re: Danny Sprinkle..............
My guess is that that what he meant was all too often we limit ourselves by looking at the coaches with ties rather than just going after the best possible candidate. For instance, while not MSU ties, the majority of this board was ready to hang someone if we didn't hire the guy with local montana ties in Mike Van Diest. Many questioned the hire of Ash with comments of the "what does he know about Montana State football" type. An outside attitude and approach from Ash and look where we are...I think that is all he was trying to say, not that someone with ties couldn't be successful just that we shouldn't limit ourselves.ilovethecats wrote:CatfaninGA wrote:Dear god no!

And just for the record, I wholeheartedly agree. Time to recreate Bobcat basketball in an entirely new way...February/March slides are not something that is new to Huse.

Re: Danny Sprinkle..............

i get it. that makes perfect sense and i don't disagree with it at all. i would never suggest hiring a guy just because he has ties to the state or the school. and i certainly don't think that having ties to the school automatically makes you the best candidate. and i was on record saying i'm not sure danny has the experience right now to be a head coach. but i also know that in coaching circles, he's looked at as being a very bright, up and coming coach who WILL be a head coach in the future. so i'm not sure how hiring him down the road if he's the best candidate could possibly be a bad thing. it's pointless speculation right now though because it's not happening any time soon.
