ISU picked to win by both the coaches and media. In fact both polls have ISU, UNCU, um, and MSU. I would agree that it will be those four duking it out at the top of the table. I had higher hopes for the Bobcats but a couple of players are lost for the season (or most of the season)-particularly Banis. Coach Binford brought in an impressive freshman recruiting class-so the future is bright.

Banis is gone for the entire season? What happened to her? Who else is going to be out for all/most of the season?BelgradeBobcat wrote:http://bigskyconf.com/news/2012/10/17/W ... 24718.aspx

In addition to Banis, Ausha Cole is taking the season off due to pregnancy. I think there may be another player with a long term injury but not sure on that! I trust that Binford can get the team competitive, although it looks like winning the conference may be a stretch this year.

That's too bad. Binford has done a terrific job, but I've been looking for them to take that proverbial "next step" and be a legitimate contender for the BSC title, and a berth in the NCAA tourney. They've been knocking on the door for a few years now, and I was hoping this might be the year they actually knocked it down, but losing Banis for the year is a big loss...more so than Cole in my opinion. Is Banis a junior this season?MSU01 wrote:In addition to Banis, Ausha Cole is taking the season off due to pregnancy. I think there may be another player with a long term injury but not sure on that! Re: WBB preseason polls
Banis is a junior. She had hip surgery and will be out until the second round of conference games at the earliest. She redshirted when she first got to MSU, so she will have the second half of this season (if she makes it back) and next season left for MSU.John K wrote:That's too bad. Cole is out for the year, as stated. The other two missing pieces were Jackie Elliott and Kayla Dewitt both had mono. Elliott is back to full strength. Dewitt will miss time in the early going, but should return too.
Here's more of a breakdown for the roster situation in a preview I did for the Blue-Gold scrimmage
