Well either MSU improved exponentially, or the Portland Pilots are pretty bad. I suppose it's a little of both. The Bobcats beat the pilots 83-64 before a very small crowd in Worthington Arena. We shot the ball very well in the first half, did a good job of limiting Portland's looks, and after a long stretch of misses, started hitting our free throws at the end to stymie any hope of a comeback.
Biglow is very good. In fact our guard play is light years better than last season as Colbert is also very capable. We're undersized, boy I wish we still had Mohammed Fall-too bad we're not UCLA and couldn't talk the NCAA into changing their mind.
If this team can knock down their outside jumpers (a big if), this team will have its share of competitive games. Seeing them in person for the first time I'm more encouraged, but fully acknowledge that they are a work in progress.
Budinich and Blount will be coming back soon. I'm not sure if they'll help, hurt, or make no major impact. Right now Huse can give a lot of minutes, with two more guys the minutes are harder to distribute. Who's gonna pout, who's gonna accept their roll?
Robison and Gordon showed some potential, but both need to be locked into the weight room-very skinny.
Biglow alone is worth coming out to a game to watch-he'll produce some exciting moments.

Re: MBB vs. U of Portland
Absolute agreement: the Cats looked much better and Portland is not a good team, at all. The offensive movement was pretty good, but on the worrisome side, Portland did get quite a few open shots, although they missed a bunch of them in the second half.
Guard play looks much better, Davis and Coleman look like contributors, so If Egwu, Robison, Norman and Budinich (?) can provide some inside presence, it should be a better team than last year's, although I guess we won't really know until they avoid the February Flop.
