I've heard that the players don't like playing for Huse. I am sure I've heard that in past seasons as well. I hope Cruzado can see the writing on the wall and force the issue with Fields to get rid of Huse at the end of the season. Then maybe Cruzado could help spearhead a campaign to change the seating (if at all possible) to change the dynamics of the home court advantage.

I used to love the games in the early 90's, great crowds and energy, some of the best were against Idaho....

The seats have to be moved closer to the floor, a new coach that is a salesmen (think Kramer style), and a few years of quality play I think can bring it back. But the configuration of the Fiedhouse makes even an exciting game boring. We need the students back near the court!

I remember when the field house was being redone in the 1990's. I suggested to a booster, that MSU should reconfigure the seating so it creates a square with the seating right next to the floor along all sides. He never made a reply. Probably to late in the process at the time and was not his fight.

I do know, I was disappointed when I saw the remodeled area. MSU went for increasing the adult side seating ($$$) vs atmosphere. A huge mistake in my hobble opinion. Can you image how much atmosphere there would be if there were 2000 or more students at each game? I see so many posts about why football players are choosing MSU, and the atmosphere has been a big reason.

I can not see that it would cost very much to reconfigure the end court and side court bleachers so they make a closed in square with the fans as close as to the court as possible. We might lose some seating on the sides, but more butts in the seats would make up for any lost revenue from having a few lost seats. And please, pave the darn parking lot. Maybe the football department and the school can help out on this greatly needed project. The field house is pushing 60 years old (maybe more) and the parking lot is still not paved. Oh, clean the parking lot of snow. Older fans have a hard time walking on snow and ice. (That older fan will be me soon) Concessions need to be better too. Let the fans in early, have some good food and a place to set down. Right now, it seems like we are walking into a high school game and not a big time college game.

PS: I saw the MSU put on a new roof on the field house a few years ago. How cool would it have to have a gold dome vs the white dome? I guess we lost out on that opportunity for 15-20 more years. The little things add up.

which is fitting because when the ball is jumped....the game looks like a high school game too. except with not as good shooting.

seriously though, I agree with the comments about our hoops atmosphere. it is just awful. even in the years where we had competitive teams in the late 90's early 00's and the place was full.....it is still quiet and not at all intimidating to play in. i'd wager that opponents shoot better in the field house than nearly any other venue in the conference. this would be a simple fix in my opinion. the fans simply must be closer to the action, students especially.

that said, just like we saw in football it takes far more than gameday atmosphere improvements and renovations to bring the fans in. the team needs to win first. i don't care if the students seats are actually touching the court...they're not going to come and watch a product like what we have now. however, i'd like to see seating changes made soon that way when/if we start getting games worth watching we're not scrambling to accomodate everyone. but in the end the sad truth is that winning is all that matters and until that changes there is nothing that the atmosphere can do to get fans to the game.

in regards to huse i think some of the criticism is unfair. saying that we've heard players don't like playing for him is pretty broad. you find me any coach and i'll find players that don't like playing for him. winning changes everything. if huse's system was generating wins i don't think players would hate playing for him. they might be mad and frustrated at times....but they'd see the big picture most likely and gut it out. it's not like he's abusing players. he's a very tough coach who likes things done his way. this holds true for about every coach in america. the issue is that whatever huse is trying to do here isn't working. the results just aren't there. so any negative thing anyone can say about brad becomes blown out of proportion. the guy knows basketball. he knows how to coach. but the flaws he does have unfortunately are costing us wins and eventually his job. he'll land on another staff as he has a pretty damn good resume and my guess is he'll get a chance as a head guy again.

in the meantime i'm hoping for the best. this team and staff has their backs against the wall. they know what is being said about them. the staff knows what the boosters are feeling. there is a TON of pressure on them all right now. will they buckle under the pressure or shock us all? who knows...the league is weak this year. maybe they'll string some wins together and make a little noise in the next two months. i'm keeping my fingers crossed and will continue my support. I just really hope the product becomes watchable because the way they have been playing is not good for my fandom, my blood pressure, my heart murmur, or my marriage. :-^

GO CATS!!!!

Stewart is not happy here. I can't imagine he stays after this year.

Don't let this distract you from the fact that the griz blew a 22-0 lead.
