UConn Ladies Put on a Clinic Last Night

One of the telling comments last night came from former UConn Huskie Rebecca Lobo. She said, "If you want to know why Geno's teams win year in and year out, just go watch them practice."

The guy can obviously flat out coach. Just watching that team--the way they pass the ball and know where other players are on the court. The way they box out and rebound. THE WAY THEY HUSTLE AFTER LOOSE BALLS! The way they play with such fire and passion. And last but not least, the CONDITION THE GIRLS ARE IN! They don't sub every 3 minutes. Geno plays the best players the entire game and I never see anyone acting like they are tired or whining or wanting to come out.

Just goes to show what great coaches can do. As Muffet put it last night, the team looked liked the Miami Heat, maybe without LeBron.

Congrats to the Huskies and to all the rest of Div. I ladies teams: you've got a lot of catching up to do. Maybe you should order some tapes from Geno on how he runs his practices (hint, hint, Cat coaches). Granted, he does get good players, but LOTS of teams have good players. His players produce. He obviously runs a very, very tough program, yet the players seem to absolutely love the guy. I'm envious of the UConn fans and alumni. No fair!

Not to be chauvinist but maybe the Lady Cats should consider a (heaven forbid) a MALE assistant to teach a more AGGRESIVE mind set (such as Selvigs teams always seem to have). We need more Semansky's to put some contact into the program (use your elbows,dammit!) especially on rebounding!

the Lady Bobcats do have a male assistant...Salvatore Coppa...!
